Hey guys,
Does anyone know if Taxi Driver has ever been shown on Cable TV before?
I've been living in the U.S. for 10 years now, and I can't remember a single
time that they've shown the film!

I don't think versatile is the right word,Keitel is extremely
versatile but much less successful than his contempories. And why is
this? because he's a risk taker!, he doesn't fit into any sort of
Hollwood mould, he's to edgy, Hollywood has absolutely no idea what
to do with him. Keitel may have cared before (70's & 80's)when the
roles weren't flooding in but now he couldn't care less, He's making
on average 4 films a year! I think he's happy to play 4th banana in a
big Hollywood productions to pay for all the child support expenses
of course!

because he isn't versatile enough. True he is one of Hollywood's
most solid actors, but he is far too limited. I have always given
him credit for his roles in Mean Streets and Bad Lieutenant, but
Keitel has never made anything groundbreaking like Brando's "On the
Waterfront" or Orson Welles' "Citizen Kane". Look at what happened
to Keitel's career in the 80's, he did not have a single major role
until Jack Nicholson ressurected his career with "Two Jakes". I
don't blame Keitel for this, I think he had some bad luck along the
way. After Mean Streets, DeNiro's career took off and Keitel was
always playing second fiddle. DeNiro landed major roles in all of
the major American films of the last 30 years such as Taxi Driver,
The Godfather 2, Raging Bull, Once upon a time in America, and
Goodfellas. Keital's resume isn't quite as impressive is it?
