Re: [Harvey Keitel Fans] Thanx for the comfort

Hey guys!
We finally seem to be getting some conversation going in here
again! Once upon a time, this place was very busy, but lately has not
been.

As far as Sonny Corleone, I don't know, maybe. I would have
liked to see Keitel's interpretation of Willard, as well.
(In "Apocaplypse Now", by the way.)

Cool Angel, thanks for the tip about the Interview in Premiere!!! I
had not even realized about that until you posted it. I went right
out and bought the magazine! Although there's nothing terribly
revelatory about it for an established Keitel fan, I STILL think it's
one of the best Keitel interviews ever. Keitel answers things simply
and directly, instead of his usual waxing poetic about everything and
talking around things. I LOVED the way the interviewer had the
courage to ask Keitel directly the questions we've wanted to ask for
years: For example, he directly asks Keitel about the famous "Eyes
Wide Shut" rumor, and Keitel responds, "Nonsense. Utter nonsense. I
simply had to leave because they wanted me to hang around for months
without being paid, and I couldn't do it." Another good example, is
the guy asking Keitel about the "Apocalypse Now" thing, and Keitel
explains that if Coppola had been more receptive to his having had
real military training, it might have been different. In other words,
Keitel and Coppola simply didn't see eye to eye about how to play the
character. A comforting thing is Keitel goes on to say that that was
a long time ago and, he says, "We're different people now. And we're
certainly friends."

All in all, it's a good Keitel piece, and the first major magazine
coverage I've seen him get in a long time. He's also been at the
premiere's of his latest films, and is talking to the press more.
Could a Keitel comeback, one last time, be in the making???

Streets, and Smoke, are essential films for any Keitel fan. Maybe
Taxi Driver as well.
