It looks like all 22 episodes of John Woo's "Once A Thief" series from a few
years ago will be shown in many areas of the US starting this Fall (alas, NOT in
mine - grrrrrr). I've been in contact with a gentleman from the distribution
company via e-mail, so I believe this is on the up-and-up. However, I have NOT
heard this from Greg (who may not know). The gentleman said if it did well,
there's a chance of new episodes, although I'm not sure that'd be possible with
so many of those involved now doing other projects.
Greg, hisselfishness, appeared as the recurring character of Mr. Murphy, a
rather regal assassin (The anti-Screed).
I do have a complete list of all the areas it will be shown, but will have to
wait until this weekend and try to convert it to a file I can repost here.
Meanwhile, here's the press release:
JOHN WOO’S ONCE A THIEF PREMIERES
IN OCTOBER;
ADVENTURE DRAMA DELIVERS UNIQUE EXCITEMENT OF DIRECTOR JOHN WOO’S ACTION
MOVIES TO WEEKLY TELEVISION
Television gets hotter this autumn with the premiere of John Woo's ONCE A THIEF
, a sizzling one-hour syndicated adventure that brings the unique excitement of
Hong Kong action films to weekly television. The series debuts _______________
at _________ on channel _____________.
Based on the critically acclaimed movie, John Woo's ONCE A THIEF tells the story
of two young refugees from a criminal empire in Hong Kong.
The series takes viewers into startling, cutting-edge worlds, fusing romance,
action and humor, all in the signature style of John Woo, the man who broke down
the wall between the action movie and the art film.
Brought up to be expert in all manner of physical and criminal skills --
everything from martial arts to superb abilities to con -- Mac Ramsey (Ivan
Sergei – “Jack and Jill,” “Touched By An Angel,” “Dangerous
Minds”) and Li Ann Tsei (Sandrine Holt – “Black Robe,” “New York
Undercover,” “The Outer Limits”), both in their mid-twenties, now use
their expertise to fight crime in North America. Working with a former cop,
Victor Mansfield (Nicholas Lea – “The X Files,” “The Commish,”
“Lonesome Dove”), they are part of an elite law enforcement agency that
takes on threats that are too powerful, protected, or unique for regular police
forces. Complicating their relationship is an ongoing sexual tension among the
three operatives.
John Woo’s ONCE A THIEF is produced by Alliance Atlantis and distributed by
October Moon Television.
