I even searched the internet and finally found a
safari jacket just like Hannibal's. I wear is<br> as
often as possible, and when I do I have a strong urge
to wear black gloves, light a cigar, and call people
Pal.<br><br>Check out the photo page... I posted a PRE-Team pic of
me in '78 with Army uniform and BLACK GLOVES! Safari
jackets -- yes, God bless Goodwill and Salvation Army!
I've always worn safari jackets since I was a kid (a
fixation on Ramar of the Jungle, I think). Black gloves
were a necessity back in West Texas in late 60's from
the heat... (100 -120 degrees) - couldn't touch
steering wheel otherwise! And wore watch backwards from
breaking horses. Back in those prehistoric days, watch
faces made out of glass, so only way to keep 'em from
breaking after every fall, you learned to keep watch face
on the inside of wrist. So Hannibal/George costume
cloning was a piece'a cake! And fave expression for years
before the Team... That's a plan, guys... I was always
the "planner" of the group. Guess some things just
meant to be, huh?<br>rita (grinning over old memories)
I saw parts of this movie on A&E on Sunday (I was
taping, and in and out of the house). And I must say,
George looks super in tight leather pants. I was
wondering, though-- He looked a bit older than his
mid-forties-- what was going on in his life around then? Other
than the color of his hair, he looked almost the same
as during the early TAT years.<br><br>Leslie
Oooooh. . . a list of what you have would be
great. <br><br>By the way, Rita, did you mention one
time that you have the capability to convert PAL tapes
to NTSC? I can't decide if I want to buy a
converter, or depend on other kind souls to do it for me. I
have one tape that needs converting, and I'm tempted
to buy a converter so I could have a wider variety
of videos available. Plus I could be a kind soul and
do it for others. But the cost is a bit much for my
purse right now. Do you know if there is much demand
for video format conversion in George/A-Team
fandom?<br><br>Leslie<br>(Pondering in Peoria)
(Sorry, I'm still waaaaaay behind in my internet
activities. Too much stuff to do, not enough hours. You know
the story.)<br><br>Unfortunately, I'm a reader, not a
writer, otherwise I'd love to help out with a zine. I
don't have a creative bone in my body. But I'm very
interested in what you put together, or already have. I'm
definitely NOT interested in slash. I know you (rita)
recently posted a story on the VA list (Deathwatch?) I
have it printed, I can't wait to make time to read it.
I tend to do more reading in the summer, since most
TV is in reruns and I spend more time at our boat
dock hanging out.<br><br>You've already heard the
story of how I got interested in George (when I "came
out of the woodwork" at the VA), but for the record:
I'm a big Robert Vaughn fan, and when TV Land started
showing The A-Team in January, I started watching because
I wanted to see the 5th season eps. I NEVER saw the
show before. In fact, I was always puzzled by the Star
Trek credits: "Special Guest Star-- Dwight Schultz"--
I had no idea who he was! Well, of course TV Land
started airing TAT from the beginning, (no Robert Vaughn
yet), but I watched anyway, and I was hooked right off
the bat! What a fun show, and that George Peppard guy
is da man!! Very sexy, very cool. So now George is
my latest obsession. I even searched the internet
and finally found a safari jacket just like
Hannibal's. I wear is as often as possible, and when I do I
have a strong urge to wear black gloves, light a
cigar, and call people Pal. :-p (My friends and husband
think (know?) I'm nuts!!!)<br><br>OK, enough rambling
for this post. More junk to come.<br><br>Leslie
I'll look for the others two in the
trilogy.<br><br>No, they're not posted anywhere, they're still being
written! And because of the way I write and illo zines,
they probably won't be posted on line for quite awhile
after I get the zines out. FYI.<br><br>Thanks for kind
words about participation. Hope to find more George
fans out there and get them together... he certainly
deserves to be remembered.<br>rita
Cannon for Cordoba and The Bravos?! Cool. I think
the list would be most helpful. You may have
available movies that I dared not hope I'd find. Take your
time. I know how it is when your stuff is buried and
real life sets in.<br>Also, in response to message
#23, I'll look for the others two in the trilogy. I
hope it's in the AT library. I'll look there
first.<br>Enjoyed the pix from the memorial and your picture, too.
Your picture reminds me a lot of my aunt that lives in
Westminster. It's nice to know that through the pix and your
reports that one can participate in an event on the other
side of the country.<br>Please send the list when you
can. My e-mail address is
dawg1@....<br>Thanks, Rita,<br><br>Hannibalbabe aka Lee
Payback is momentarily buried in a sea of
diskettes, as my office kindly deleted ALL my emails on
Monday while I was out! I'll find the pieces and send to
you. It is not completed to my satisfaction, which is
why I won't have it archived anywhere on the net,
being a picky b*tch about such things. I got some very
constructive feedback and so now can enhance it.<br><br>Also
keep looking for the two sequels to Nightmare: Deja
Vu, where they go back to Laos and Thailand yet again
in search of POW/MIAs, and Bitter Harvest
(immediately following Deja, timewise), where Hannibal finds
in Vietnam a piece of his own history that will
change his life forever. If you write, send me something
for the new zine... I'm looking for submissions...
really, really looking... please?<br> <br>bye<br><br>rita
(grinning)
Bravos, huh? Guess what? I've got that one too. I
can see I'm going to be very busy soon. Give me a
week or so and then let's talk. I'm still excavating
the area where the tapes are buried. Shall I make up
a list of what I have available on tape on
George?<br><br>rita
Rita....<br><br> I absolutely loved the memorial
picts of George..He was truly an asset to the
profession of acting..My all time fave movie Is Breakfast at
Tiffanys. <sigh> But I would like one of the handouts
to add to my collection of George Peppard
memorobilia...If that wouldn't be a problem Rita....the
realization that he isgone .. never dawns me until the
anniversary..It always makes me depressed!! :( But to me ...
George will ALWAYS be alive in my heart!!!! <br><br>
Chicka<br> <Kara>
I'm new to this page and a big Goerge Peppard
fan. I read "Nightmare" from the A-Team lending
library and really enjoyed it. I had been wondering if
you were the author. Didn't you also place a story in
Deadly Maneuvers II about their prison camp days titled
"Medal of Honor"? That was another excellent story,
thoroughly researched and well written. You are an excellent
writer, Rita, and I loved the pictures. They really
helped to enhance the story. Im glad to hear your
putting together a Hannibal fanzine. I look forward to a
copy.<br>To answer your questions, I became a fan through the
A-Team. I had seen Peppard before, but never understood
his movies. Ah, the concrete thinking of childhood.
As I went back, as an adult, I was able to
understand them better, especially Groundstar.<br>I hope
you're able to get Cannon for Cordoba on tape. I would
love a copy. I have been searching for that, along
with The Bravos. Unfortunately, they don't exist,
yet.<br>I'm running off at the keyboard. Better wind this up
now. <br>Lee<br>P.S. I recently heard about a story
titled "Payback" that sounded interesting. Anyone know
where I can find it? Thanks.
These are a few shots from the 'memorial' held at
George's star on 5-8-00. Hollywood seemed pretty deserted
but people did stop, some surprised he was gone, some
sad, some amazed at the length of time gone by,
stories were shared and a few "God-Bless You, George's"
were offered with real feeling. A handout filmography
with some photos on it was given to anyone who was
interested. It was as pleasant a way as I could think to
spend commemorating this anniversary.<br><br>If you
want one of the handouts, let me know, as I will have
to snailmail it to you.<br><br>rita
Hi guys! Still trying to get this dadgummed page
to come up right... But at least now it looks more
like the photo-odyssey it was supposed to. Take a look
and see if it's improved. Still looking for any info
from any knowledgeable net whiz's out
there.<br>Thanks.<br>rita
Sorry, replying to a post twice...
but...<br><br>Have you ever seen the zines put out by Jackie
Edwards? There were four of them -- 3 were called "Closed
for Remodeling" and one (the adult one, big grin) was
"Open for Business." Jackie liked Hannibal and Maggie
almost as much as I do, so a lot of her stories revolve
around them. They are out of print now, so I guess it's
okay if I make a copy for you to look at. email me
privately and let's get addresses for each other. Trying to
find Jackie to see if she has any problems with her
stuff being put on net or reprinted... as a courtesy to
her, ought to ask first.<br><br>rita<br><br>rita
Well, you're in luck, sort of. I publish novellas
and zines based heavily on Hannibal; trying to finish
a trilogy now that started with a zine I wrote in
'90 called Nightmare about Hannibal's worst
nightmares come true. It's adult so you have to have an age
statement.<br><br>Finishing a flock of stories I wrote in 1990 and haven't
posted yet. I did two on the VA egroups list, and got
interesting reviews. They are still in progress, so not
archived anywhere yet. I'm old fashioned and believe that
if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well,
so I try not to print or post stuff until it is as
good as can be. The two posts were to gauge reactions
and help to fill in some blanks (besides my
brain!).<br><br>D'ya suppose there would be any interest in a strictly
Hannibal fanfic site? Hannurdock has created several with
Hannibal featured prominently, but not sure if
exclusively... maybe something I'll work on after Austin in
July. Will be busy up to that point, believe me. Also
to be upfront -- am not into slash, especially with
Hannibal. But am looking for new stories on Hannibal to put
a new fanzine together. Interested? You realize a
fanzine is a paper printed booklet of stories, not
something posted on the net? But I like to illo them too
with photos, vid grabs, etc. to enhance the stories.
I'm waiting now for a few more stories so I can put
one out. Have a few sitting here, just need about 5
more... soooooo, interested?<br><br>Sorry, tend to run
off at mouth... not as much time to do this stuff as
I would like, so cram everything into a post or
two... (blush)<br><br>So, tell us how *you* got
interested in George... A-Team or before? <br><br>I'll try
to post pix of George's memorial thing on Monday in
next day or so.<br><br>Take care and thanks for
joining/participating.<br><br>rita
>> I need input from members - how can this
page<br>>> best serve you?<br><br>Well, this member is
interested in sharing opinions of George's movie and TV
roles, learning behind-the-scenes stuff about same,
swapping tapes, viewing whatever pictures and clippings
are available, etc. And since you, Rita, seem to be
the resident keeper of all things Peppard, I imagine
that most of the info will probably come from you!!
:-p I'm so happy that you are so willing to share
your wealth of knowledge about him. Oh yeah, I'm also
interested in A-Team fanfic, as long as it's mostly Hannibal
related. I'm a little disappointed in most of the fic I've
seen so far, because everybody seems to like to write
about Face or Murdock.
It just occurred to me that I bought The
Executioner recently, as well as Groundstar Conspiracy. I
haven't watched either one yet. I think I might have
recorded Cannon for Cordoba off TNT or TBS a while back,
too. (Of course that means it's probably all chopped
up!) I've been out of town almost continuously for the
last month, so now I can start catching
up.<br><br>Leslie
Have you seen "The Executioner"? Lots of nice
suffering mixed into a convoluted plot. It's available on
video. It was during the period when he commented that
he was "sleepwalking" through a lot of his roles,
keeping himself well lubricated every day and not
remembering much of any of it. (He was taking roles, bad and
good, just to pay the alimony of three wives at that
point... a crushing burden for anyone!) In spite of that,
he did a really good job in it. Take a look if you
can. I have some extras laying about somewhere, so if
you can't find it, let me know. I would like to get a
couple of his movies on film put onto tape and set up a
lending library here, but that's down the road. I'll try
to get my rear in gear and make up a filmography
list of what's available in videoland. Cannon for
Cordoba also is one of his fun movies and SOOO hard to
find... never made it to tape, which is too bad.. some
fun scenes, especially in the European version. (I
have a copy of both an American cut version and the
Euro which I've never seen because it's in PAL
format... sigh.) I'm supposed to be getting a 16mm print of
it, so hopefully those scenes will be there and I can
make a decent tape from it. Stay tuned.<br><br>Are you
into pictures, copies of old magazine articles, etc.
(I have stuff going back to the early, early 60's.
If there's interest, perhaps I can scan some of it
in so others can view. Let me know your thoughts. I
want this page to give some insight to George the man.
I'm still working on the webpage. Once it's 'right',
then I'll start adding more stuff to it, perhaps a
page per movie, stuff like that... <br><br>I need
input from members - how can this page best serve
you?<br><br>Take care.<br><br>rita
I watched The Carpetbaggers this weekend. I don't
think I like George as a ruthless b***ard. But I did
like the big fight scene between him and Alan Ladd! He
also LOOKED good in the movie, and that does count for
something in my book.<br><br>Leslie<br>(Maybe I'll watch
Pendulum again this week.)
Hi Rita,<br>I'll take you up on a copy of The
Third Day! I'll bug you about it in a few
weeks.<br><br>I'd love to see George's star on Hollywood Blvd
someday-- I think it's neat that you are taking good care
of it. Some day I'll make it out
there.<br><br>Leslie
Hi Leslie! Glad to have you here with *us*. This
page is still unknown, but I expect to see it grow bit
by bit. To learn more about George, check out the
webpages to George at the bottom of the links section...
(Yahoo and my word program are still fighting), but
should be resolved soon... to get photos to appear as
they should. Please hang in there.<br><br>I have all
of George's movies on tape, some on 16mm and 35mm
film also. (A lot of them were never released to video
so are hard to find.) Third Day is a very good,
dramatic story. I'll be willing to copy it for you, but
not right away, as I have a huge workload schedule
and also have promised some other things to other A-T
fans, so should honor those first. But don't give up on
me... check with me in about 2-3 weeks? Things should
settle by then.<br><br>A memorial arrangement was set
out at George's star on Hollywood Blvd. today for
several hours as this is the 6th anniversary of his
passing. Lots of interest and dismay when people realized
he was gone...<br>look forward to hearing from
you...<br>rita (weary of keyboards [and lawyers too!])
Hi gang! I'm waaaaaaay behind reading the VA
email, and I just found this club in one of Rita's
posts. Maybe I can learn a little more about George
here. Has anybody seen The Third Day (I think that's
the name of the movie)? I can't find it online, and
I'm curious if it's a good one or not. I'm slowly
accumulating George's movies, and some are very hard to
find.<br><br>Leslie<br>(Happy to be here!)
if you could ever video it for me i would be ever
so gratefull i will definatly pay post and packaging
and the money for a blank tape the only problem is i
live in england and we have vhs video's which i am not
sure if they are the same as what you meant
Thanks for your interest! I have Five Days on
Tape, but can you view it if I dupe it for you? I don't
have PAL/SECAM unit yet, altho' thinking might be
handy thing to get, especially now DVD taking over --
the units ought to be selling really cheap. Let me
know. It really IS worth seeing. It's a low key family
film with the best that means. He just brought it out
at the wrong time, a time when buddy cop and action
adventure films ruled. I think it would go over much better
if it were aired today.<br>Take care. Let me know
about the tape
that's the film he directed isn't it it is one i
have always wanted to see but in all the years i have
liked him 16 years it has never been on tv in England
and you cannot get it on video so i have never seen
it also i forgot about torn between two lovers that
is a brilliant film even if she does leave with the
wrong person.
That is soooo hard to answer. I like almost all
of his movies the same. But partial to Executioner,
One More Train to Rob, Torn Between Two Lovers,
Cannon for Cordoba, Five Days From Home, Pendulum, P.J.,
Operation Crossbow and Carpetbaggers. These are the top
faves. The least liked are The Tigress, Silence Like
Glass, Yankee Zephyr, Target Eagle. Will post a complete
listing soon, also on the webpage.
We appreciate your taking a look. Please bear
with us as Rita works 14 hours a day and does not
always get to the page to say hi! The web page is almost
completed, and now we have to see if Yahoo can take it...
thanks for your patience.<br><br>rita
George Peppard was the first actor i ever went
crazy about still am every time one of his films come
on i watch it it doesnt matter how many times i have
seen it before he's still great my favourite character
