Update on 10th Anni – 4-16-04
Things have been moving along since yesterday.
I have contacted the owners of the Theatre behind George's star, and
they have no problem with a ceremony and people gathering as long as
it's before 1-2 pm. Their support and permission helps.
I am inviting Brad, Julie and Christian to attend if they wish.
Chris is the only one I know who lives in LA, so he might be
interested. If I get an affirmative, will let you know.
Have the ad rates for the Hollywood Reporter ad. A quarter page
will run $710, 1/8th runs $365. We have already gotten a couple of
donations, so might be able to do this size ad (1/4 page). If I had
the money, I would do it myself in a heartbeat, but am only now
coming up from under.
THANKS to those who have already volunteered donations. All
donations, big or small, are welcome and it all helps, and you will
get a copy of the Hollywood Reporter of your own to keep.
Talked to one of my entertainment editors who sounded interested,
but time will tell. If there's a bigger story going on, of course,
we will take bottom preference. But I'll keep my fingers crossed. At
least we're not competing with the Cannes Film Festival this year...
(usually his anni falls too near their date and the ad gets buried
somewhere.)
HR said they can give photo credit and there will be no
complications using the photo I have in mind. I'll post the two or
three choices I have and see what you think.
Will be contacting all the local newspapers and local tv channels
this coming week to alert them and see if we can get more locals to
attend. There *must* be some other Peppard fans in Los Angeles
besides me!
If anyone on the list would like to send e-cards or emails, stating
why you like/miss George (or dislike? I hope not), I'll display on a
board and then give to Brad, after the fact, as a keepsake for
George's grandkids. These should be in my hands by Thursday, May 6,
so I can create the memory board.
Now.... let's just hope someone else besides *me* shows up.
Rita, crossing fingers.
PS. I will be posting the bulk of updates at the George Peppard
Memorial Page group at Yahoo
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/georgepeppardmemorialpage) for those
who are not members there.
