Dear Rita,
I live in Oregon so won't be making it down, but I am glad to discover that
there is someone else in this group. I didn't even remember joining until I got
your letter. My interest in George Peppard comes from Banacek reruns. I was in
my early 20s when the show first aired, and didn't care for it at the time, but
find that I enjoy it so much now on Hallmark that I actually record it and leave
out the commercials. I've never seen the A-Team, being so turned off by the
character of Mr T when he appeared on other things.

Subject: [George Peppard Memorial Page] 10th Annivrsary - anyone interested in
doing something special?
Hi all,
As you all know, May 8 is the 10th anni of George's passing.
I have a couple of ideas in mind... and wanted to run them by to see
if anyone besides myself was interested or could do it.
I would like to have some kind of really NICE gathering at his star
on Hollywood Blvd to commemorate the anni... especially since
originally the highly acclaimed Hwd Chamber of Commerce never made
ANY effort to leave a bouquet or any other memento at the star upon
George's passing, even though they always have BEFORE and AFTER his
death. (I was the only one who put anything down: a red rose for
about 4 days in a row, along with a memorial note, which disappeared
each night!) (The week after his death they laid a big bouquet at
Kurt COBAIN'S Star(suicided rock guy) for gosh sakes!!!!!). I
would like to try to plan ahead to see if anyone reasonably nearby
(within a 100 miles +/-) would be interested in getting together?
I would also like to put in a commemorative ad in the trade papers
(Hollywood Reporter and Variety) acknowledging the date, but that
takes $$! I will probably have some by then since I now have a
permanent job (finally!), but cannot carry it all by myself this
year. In the past I put in a one inch ad every year but THAT cost
$200. I would like to try for a 1/4 page this year with a picture.
I will find out how much the ads cost and get back to you.
I have a couple of contacts in the entertainment guys on local
channels here, so will try to get them involved, also.
Are any of you even remotely interested in any of this?
Other ideas: have your local tv station do a Peppard retrospective
that week, running old movies of his.
Have your local paper do an article, especially if you can get them
to talk to you and mention you're part of a group dedicated to
George after all these years.
Other ideas will be gratefully received.
Let's make this a memorial for folks to remember, considering how
they didn't the first time around!
rita
