At night alone as the Ringbearer dreams
I can still hear the anguish in his tortured screams.
I wonder what he has seen to fear
what he has had to endure that brought him to tears.

What did he see that caused all of this?
What kind of demons in that black abyss?
A Balrog, a spider and maybe the Eye
are all to blame for his anguished cry.

I can only turn to him as a friend
and outstretch my hand to brind an end
to the dream that makes my heart wrend
to hear the deafening screams
that haunt Frodo's tortured dreams.

I can only stand back and watch him fight
and tremble inside to hide my own fright...
I wish I knew how to give him kind words
that would calm his fears once they were heard
but I know of nothing that could possibly be said
no magic words or spell comes no thought in my head
for the nightmares he has are sadly his own
but I can only pray my feelings for him are known.

I can only hope he knows that I am here
just a friend to help with a nameless fear
and be a shoulder to catch any fallen tears
and be a soft place to fall when the need is near.
