Re: [pota_tv] An Urko question...

Hi, people...

In regard to mlccougar's comment:

>I can't think of any one time in any episode of
>Planet of the Apes where Urko is actually referred to as "General"...
>Or is his
>"General"
>title something put on him by mistake, the same way Councilor Zaius is

Urko is *NEVER* referred to as "General" Urko in any of the filmed TV
episodes.

It always annoyed me that he was called that in some of the spin-off
material - until I discovered that he *is* referred to by that rank in
some of the early scripts I've seen (I can't recall which ones just at
the moment) - so it may have been his intended title at one time, but
then it was changed.

I suspect that some of the promotional literature for the show may have
been developed from material created during the early stages of the
show's development, and that's where the error stems from - as you say,
along with the "Dr. Zaius/Chief Counsellor Zaius" confusion.

As Greg says, whenever Urko's official designation is mentioned on-air,
he's "Chief of Security."

Mark.

Like said, I see the gorillas as "human cullers" and when there is a need for an "Army" then who better to assemble? But then I guess the "General" was a...
