The Philippine Independent Film Festival 2005 is a joint endeavor of
the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Film Development Council

Institute.
Slated for 19 to 25 February 2005, the festival features
• a competition,

• seminars, conferences & an indie congress
• other exciting film-related fringe events.
In the pioneering spirit which informs the films of Lino Brocka, the
BROCKA Awards seeks to discover, encourage and honor the cinematic
works of Filipino filmmakers that boldly articulate and freely
interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic
integrity.
The works will be…

• In digital video format - to take advantage of this new, more

• Open to fresh, new talent – primarily for filmmakers who have not
yet directed a commercial effort.
There will be two categories:
• Best Short Feature – from 15 to 20 minutes.
• Best Full-Length Feature – from 90 to 120 minutes.
Both awards will be given during the Philippine Independent Film
Festival 2005 week from 19 to 25 February.
• The Best Short Feature will be awarded P100,000 in cash and a
trophy.
• For the Full-length, out of all the entries 20 semi-finalists
will be chosen. And from this batch, 10 finalists shall be selected
and will each be awarded a P500,000 seed investment.
On the awards night, the best full-length feature will win an
additional P200,000 cash prize plus the BROCKA trophy, as well as a
chance to participate in a prestigious international film festival.
