Welcome and Happy New Year! I've been researching Franchot Tone's
life and career since 1997, first as a hobby and then with the goal
of publishing his first-ever comprehensive biography. No publication
date has been set, but I hope that this site will help to answer
some questions you have about him in the meantime.

Franchot lived a VERY FULL 63 years so I'm dedicated to taking my
time to thoroughly investigate all the details, to ensure that the
book will tell an accurate story and satisfy readers' curiosity
about this most fascinating and often overlooked actor and
gentleman!

While the bulk of my research has been completed, there are
television programs and feature films (aside from those which are
commercially available) that I still need to view as I write the
manuscript. Please let me know if you can help me gain access to
tapes or DVD dubs of these four classic movies in particular:

The Wiser Sex (Paramount, 1932)

The Stranger's Return (MGM, 1933)

One New York Night (MGM, 1935)

La Bonne Soup (French, 1963)

Additionally, I'm always interested in seeing any resource materials
(candid photos, letters, contracts, memos, etc.) that exist in the
private sector in regards to his personal life and career in
theatre, film, radio and television. Full credit will be given to
the document owners. Also, if you or someone you know worked with or
knew Franchot, I'd love to hear from you and hope that you will
contribute your unique insight to this book. Interested parties
please contact me to set up an interview.

I'd like everyone to know that my work would not be possible without
the blessing of Franchot Tone's son Pat and his family. Thank you,
one and all, for your friendship and invaluable time and assistance!
