"The Legend of the Lone Ranger", a 1981 flick with Christopher Lloyd
as the villain, will be released on DVD by Lions Gate on Tuesday, the
26th. You can order it online from Amazon.com. The movie pairs Lloyd
with Matt Clark (Chester in BTTF 3) as the two have a few scenes together.
While the movie was mired in controversy when it came out due to a
lawsuit the producers of the film slapped on Clayton Moore, the actor
who played the Lone Ranger on the popular old tv show, Lloyd himself
puts in a pretty chilling performance as the ruthless villain of the
piece.
Interestingly enough, Lloyd's character was based on a character in
the original Lone Ranger comics, and Lloyd did not become aware of his
character's prior existence until after the film was shot. :)

The premiere of Lloyd's upcoming 3D animated flick "Fly Me to the
Moon" was yesterday in Los Angeles. Lloyd was in attendance along
with co-star Nicolette Sheridan and Tim Curry. You can see pics on
most of the entertainment websites like wireimage, getty, newscom,
etc. The film goes into wide release on August 15th, being dubbed the
first 3D computer animated movie made in 3D for 3D viewing. So far,
I've seen previews and commercials online as well as on tv. You can
check out the film's official website at www.flymetothemoonthemovie.com
In other news, Lloyd is wrapping up filming the disaster miniseries
"Meteor" to be aired on NBC this coming television season. The series
is filming on location in Taft, California.

Hi folks.
Just a small thing, but it made me smile: Entertainment Weekly listed Amazing
Stories as #15 in their 15 Scariest TV Shows Ever countdown. Lo and behold, they
used a pic from Chris' episode. Made me pull out my VHS tape and watch it again.
I'd forgotten just how much fun he was in that one.

I sure wish that second set of AS DVDs would get released. My tape is getting
crinkly.

At the following link, you can check out Lloyd as he gives a brief
interview and the cameras catch his voice recording session of
the "Cyberchase" series villain The Hacker. It's pretty cool to see
Lloyd stretching body and vocal chords and getting into all sorts of
funny gesticulations so he can project his voice just right!

As mentioned before, Lloyd has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his
voicework as The Hacker.

Christopher Lloyd is among the nominees for the Daytime Emmy Award for
Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his work as the voice
of the Hacker on the popular PBS series "Cyberchase". The awards will
be broadcast live on ABC on June 20th.
Congrats to Mr. Lloyd!
In early July, the indie flick "Flakes" will be released on DVD. No
word yet on special features, although it will be formatted for
widescreen. I had the opportunity to see the movie, and I was
surprised at how original it was. An added bonus is that the movie
was filmed in New Orleans pre-Katrina and is able to capture the
vibrant colours and atmosphere of the French Quarter. In the movie,
Christopher Lloyd has an amusing supporting role as Willie, the owner
of a cafe that only serves cereal (including rare, vintage cereals)
who gets caught in the crossfire of a lovers' quarrel and a competing
yuppie cereal bar that rips off his concept. Lloyd captures the
stoner persona and has a couple inspired moments, and I recommend
checking out the film. Not the best movie in the world, but a fairly
decent indie romantic comedy with a dose of originality.

The New York Philharmonic is putting on special concert performances
of the musical "Camelot" on May 7th through 10th. The concert features
Gabriel Byrne, Nahan Gunn and Christopher Lloyd, and the performance
on May 8th will be broadcast nationally on PBS so those outside NYC
can still enjoy it.
Christopher Lloyd is guest starring on tonight's episode of "Head
Case", a hilarious show revolving around a dysfunctional therapist who
caters to celebrity clients. In this episode, Christopher Lloyd is
treated for paranoid delusions, but goes missing mid-session. You can
see a funny preview clip at the show's official website here:

The classic baseball drama "Eight Men Out" is being re-released on DVD
on March 18th with a Special Edition. The original DVD edition was
release several years ago with no special features aside from
widescreen presentation. Now, the film is being given the treatment
it deserves, including commentary from legendary director/writer John
Sayles and a documentary on the making of the film. Check it out in
March!

In 1977, Christopher Lloyd starred in the Tony nominated musical
revival of "Happy End", alongside Meryl Streep. While you can check
out promotional stills of the production at www.christopherlloyd.net,
you can now see a clip of the showtune "Bilbao Song" performed by
Lloyd and several cast members on the 1977 Tony Awards telecast at
the following website:
http://www.bluegobo.com/video/_production.php?var=10148
As for the crutches you will notice on Lloyd, he tore ligaments in
his right knee during a preview performance of "Happy End". As a
result, Lloyd's understudy Bob Gunton took over on opening night of
the play while Lloyd underwent surgery and recuperated in the
hospital. However, Gunton came down with the measles shortly after
opening night and Lloyd resumed the role...in crutches. He actually
went out of his way to use historically accurate crutches (the play
takes place in the 1920s) while onstage and you can see them in the
clip. The play had some lines inserted to explain the character's
crutches. Lloyd's character first appears onstage after having
killed the leader of the rival gang. His character originally came
in with a black eye, but the script was altered to include a leg
injury to explain the crutches' presence. Enjoy the clip!

Happy Birthday Christopher Lloyd. I first saw you on "Barney Miller" followed by
Taxi. But your big break came when you portrayed a Klingon in "Star Trek III:
The Search for Spock" but you're better remembered at as Dr. Emmett L. Brown in
the "Back to the Future" trilogy.

Subject: [For Christopher Lloyd Fans] Happy Birthday to Christopher Lloyd

Today is Chris Lloyd's 69th birthday. Wow, good times.
A cool piece of news I came across: the DVD of "A Perfect Day" will be
released in December, in time for holiday gift shopping. No word yet
on extras.
The musical version of "Grumpy Old Men" (the hit movie that inspired a
sequel) will host a special reading in NYC in November, and Christopher
Lloyd will perform the part of Max Goldman (originally played by Walter
Matthau in the movie version). The reading is by invitation only and
the parts are all being performed by an all star cast of seasoned Tony
winners and theater veterans.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the movie, so I hope the musical is a
faithful adaptation. :P
On a side note, the cast also features Carol Kane, who worked with
Lloyd before on "Taxi" and the famed Lincoln Theater staging
of "MacBeth".
Hey Christopher Lloyd Fans:
Today's my birthday and I would like you all to wish me a Happy 51st birthday.

Variety reported that Lloyd has been cast in a new version of the
popular fairytale classic "Jack and the Beanstalk". Some research
indicates that the movie is set to begin filming at the end of July.
From Variety:
Colin Ford ("The Dog Days of Summer") has landed the lead role in
"Jack and the Beanstalk" alongside Christopher Lloyd and Cheri Oteri.
Ford plays Jack, who must perform a heroic deed to avoid flunking out
of fairytale school. Pic will lense in Los Angeles with Gary
Tunnicliffe directing.

Tonight at 10 (ET), TV Land will air the back to back premiere
episodes of its hit original series "TV Land Confidential".
Christopher Lloyd is scheduled to give interviews in both episodes.
Just a reminder. :P
Christina
Robert Zemeckis, Ken Ralston and Christopher Lloyd have recently
collaborated on a USC master student's thesis film "The Macabre World
of Lavender Williams". Last fall, Robert Zemeckis read USC student
Nicolas Delgado de la Camara's original script entitled "The Macabre
World of Lavender Williams" and agreed to personally mentor the
project through its production. Talk about giving back to your alma
mater! Anyway, Ken Ralston was added as Supervisor of Visual Effects,
and pretty soon, Christopher Lloyd joined the cast in February for the
quick shoot. From the information I've received, it seems to be very
similar to "Pan's Labarynth" in terms of tone and the important role
of visual effects. Delgado's style looks incredible, and I can only
imagine what the finished product will look like.
The film is currently in post production, and you can check out the
director's production company website at
http://www.castilianpirate.com/ and follow the link to the page on
Lavender Williams.
Talk about a lucky film student!

Christopher Lloyd will be a presenter in tonight's 34th Annual Daytime
Creative Arts & Entertainment Emmy Awards. The Creative Arts awards
are part of the Daytime Emmys, but have their own event. The awards
can be seen online via a webcast, and for the first time, the event
will be archived for viewing at TVWorldwide.com and TVMainstream.com,
as well as the National Television Academy website at
www.emmyonline.tv. I think you need windows media player to watch.
As the voice of Hacker on PBS's "Cyberchase", Lloyd will present in
the category of children's programming.

TV Land's original series TV Land Confidential returns for a second
season of behind the scenes secrets revealed of some of the most
beloved classic television shows, and it seems Christopher Lloyd will
be featured in two episodes. Both of Lloyd's episodes will air in the
1 hour premiere, which debuts with the back to back episodes
"Oddballs" and "Movies" on Wednesday July 11th at 10 pm Eastern.
Lloyd now joins his other "Taxi" cast mates who have already appeared
on the show.
I've copied and pasted the press release below.

ODDBALLS: They are the oddball characters you rarely meet in real
life, but find all over the TV dial. The things they do and say are
unforgettable. This episode of TV Land Confidential tells the inside
story of some of the most original TV characters of all time. How did
the Sweathogs narrowly escape permanent expulsion their first season?
Is it possible that Lenny and Squiggy were based on real people? What
about Taxi's Reverend Jim? And how did Balki come up with that crazy
accent? Wacky characters created on a whim -- some quirky, some crazy
and all of them completely original.
Wednesday, July 11, 10:30 p.m.
MOVIES: The silver screen is a goldmine of untold stories. From
script to screen and everything in between, this installment of TV
Land Confidential takes on Hollywood with tales of your favorite
movies. How did Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia get motivated for their
Big dance scene? What made the dance scenes in Saturday Night Fever so
hot? Why did Christopher Lloyd nearly turn down a ride Back To The
Future? Why did Cloris Leachman stop filming during Mel Brooks' High
Anxiety? How did the producers of Animal House find their perfect
school? Get some popcorn, sit back and enjoy!
Wednesday, July 18, 10 p.m.
FINALES: Even in the world of television all good things must come
to an end - from the hit shows that go out with a bang, to the series
that are quietly canceled there's always a story behind the send-off.
This episode looks at the shows that got to say good-bye, some that
didn't and some that said good-bye, and then unexpectedly got stays of
"cancellation" and returned from the dead. What finale was originally
planned for The Mary Tyler Moore Show? How did Bob Newhart kept the
secret of his final Newhart episode? Viewers will also get an
exclusive set visit to the finale of Malcolm In The Middle.
Wednesday, July 25, 10 p.m.
GUEST STARS: They show up, do their bit and then they're off to
the next show. They're the guest stars who spice up your favorite
shows. And they have stories too! From walk-on parts to recurring
characters, this episode of TV Land Confidential tells the untold
tales of the sometimes celebrated, sometimes unsung guests stars of
series television. How did Tony Danza persuade his old friend Marilu
Henner to guest star Who's The Boss? Why did A Mary Tyler Moore Show
audience boo one guest star just for kissing Murray? And which guest
star set the record for most cruises on The Love Boat? Here's a clue:
"Coochi Coochi Coo!!" - and we've got the other answers too!
A couple weeks ago, Christopher Lloyd reprised his role as Doc Brown
in a hilarious spoof video shot for Microsoft to debut at the annual
Tech Ed show. The segment was filmed in Seattle, and the video showed
Doc Brown taking MS big wig Bob Mulgia through time to see the
destructive effects of Microsoft's overreaching vision and failed
projects. If you're like me and have been frustrated with Microsoft's
projects the last 5 years or so, you'll easily identify with the
message on the film.
Anyway, Tech Ed kicked off this morning in Orlando with the keynote
address delivered by Mulgia, which aired the segment, and then a real
DeLorean came on stage with Lloyd and Mulgia coming out of it to do an
intro on stage. You can read about it (and see rough footage from the
event taken from a spectator's camera) here:
