Rita received her Honorary Fellowship at Liverpool's John Moores University on
Tuesday morning, 21 July 2009.

The graduation ceremony was recorded on video. If you have Microsoft Windows
Media Player on your computer, you can watch the streaming video of the
ceremony. Here is a direct link to Rita's segment of the video.

When I asked whether she had rented her cap and gown for the occasion, Rita
replied, "The cap and gown were made for me by the University, they do that for
all their Fellows, it is beautifully made. I chose the colour Violet for the
trim, it was a colour my mother loved and violets were the flower that we often
gave to each other."
If Rita's daughter Aisha sends me any photos, I'll post them for the group.
Cheers,
Robert

University on the 21st of July, [Rita's younger daughter] Aisha is coming, my
[oldest] brother Peter and my Sister-in-law Beryl, the [Richard] Lester's and
other friends so it should be a nice occasion, needless to say I am really
nervous as I have to address the audience - albeit briefly - but all the
Graduands will be there from the Screen School, Arts and social Science, School
of Media, Critical and Creative Arts, they will be receiving their well earned
degrees. Aisha is going to take some photographs so I will get her to send you
some."

be released. The ceremony will be on the 21st of July at Liverpool's Anglican
Cathedral."
