On 28 Oct 2007, the New London Theatre hosted a galaxy of stars from
film and television to toast the British Academy of Film and
Television Arts on the Academy's 60th birthday.
"Joanna Lumley and Michael Parkinson present a gala event with Halle
Berry, Robert Carlyle, Lord Richard Attenborough, Stanley Baxter,
Sharon Osbourne, and Miss Piggy. Plus, the Kumars meet Sir Ben
Kingsley; past, present and future stars of 'Billy Elliot' in the
West End perform a specially choreographed routine; the cast
of 'Upstairs Downstairs'; Armstrong and Miller recreate a
classic 'Morecambe & Wise' sketch; and Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion
sing live."
Rita was a brief participant in this show. She introduced a
retrospective segment about films of the '50s and '60s.
The celebration was recorded on 28 Oct 2007 and then telecast
as "Happy Birthday BAFTA" on 07 Nov 2007. One of my British friends
recorded it for me. With commercials edited out, it runs about 72
minutes.
