The Raleigh segment was amazing. A kind native drove us around Salford
and Nottingham, retracing the "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning"
steps of Sillitoe and Finney, a few years ago. Sadly, most of the
commentary was, "And this was where such and such stood. Demolished.
Here's where that candy store stood. Demolished. And on and on. Pity
that countries and cities don't know what they lose in the name of
progress and redevelopment.
I've been meaning to get to Blackpool for a long time but never have,
at least in part to retrace Rita's steps in "A Taste of Honey". One
day.
