Hi Greg,
You know, I didn't place Barbara Ferris at first, even though I've got
a very nice DVD of "The System" (guess I must have been looking at Jane
Merrow at the time).
I particularly enjoyed some funny bits with minor characters, like the
old man in the pub who rambles on about how he prefers to keep pigeons,
because they make for better eatin' when youse gets tired of 'em! And
the scene where families are vacating the row of condemned flats – it
doesn't take ten seconds after the moving van pulls away before a group
of local boys is throwing rocks to break all of the flat's windows! A
great sense of humor on the part of the scriptwriter.
Rita is incredibly cute – full of energy, and I agree, a certain self-
assured appeal. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked Mike Sarne in
this. I thought that being a pop singer meant that he probably wouldn't
be able to act (must have been thinking of Elvis Presley). Guess I
liked him more than you did.
Certainly one of Rita's better 'early films'. Every Rita fan ought to
consider getting a copy!
Cheers,
Robert
