Hey John, glad my snooping for F.W. news was able to be a blessing to someone
out there.
Now, if there's anyone near Havertown, Pa. comes this bit of news found at:
"A "Great Adventure Where Almost Anything Goes" is being planned for Marple
residents
by township manager Jack Lantrip, with Marple Newtown Jaycees and other civic
groups
cooperating.
Planned is a trip to Great Adventure Park in Jackson, N.J. the evening of Sept.
10 to
compete in the Great Adventure Fun Olympics along with 72 other townships.
The competition is being sponsored by the "Almost Anything Goes" Roadshow, which
is an
exact duplicate of the former television show of the same name.
Lantrip said it will be a fund raiser for Marple to help pay the $5,000 it will
cost to move
the books to the new library.
It also will be a lot of fun and a good deal for residents who have always
wanted to visit
Great Adventure's Safari Park and Entertainment Park.
A ticket to the park normally costs $11.50.
For the competition, a book containing the ticket and 11 other bonus tickets for
food,
merchandise and future visits to the park, will cost $8.50.
The book is an $18.80 value. From each book sold, $1 will go to the township for
its
library books fund.
Those who buy ticket books will fill out a card, blue for males, pink for
females. The cards
will be placed in bins and four will be drawn from each bin to be the
contestants in the
zany competition.
All the other ticket holders will be the rooters for their team.
Included will be a "Fay Wray-King Kong" contest, with local officials
participating. (I wonder
that this is all about, please report people to Our Lady Fay's group...if anyone
knows .....
Marple is slated to compete with Hazleton".

September 8. That's just a few miles from where I live, and I have been to the
Slayton
House Theatre before. (I even performed there once with my community theatre
group). So
I will definitely check it out. And I'll bring my Fay Wray photo collection
along with me, in
case any of the spectators would like learn about her other films, too.
