June 9, 2004 -- FAY Wray, King Kong's love interest in the 1933 original,
hit it off with Peter Jackson, who is directing a new remake. (Jessica
Lange made the ape go ape in the 1976 version.) Fay, 96, a star of
"Broadway: The Golden Age," met Jackson at the premiere Monday night.
Jackson was thrilled to meet Wray, but she will not be making a cameo in
Jackson's Kong epic, which starts shooting in August in New Zealand.
Jackson is here casting 10 supporting actors to join Naomi Watts, Adrien
Brody and Jack Black. "Kong's going to be a C.G. (computer-generated)
gorilla," said Jackson, who created Gollum the same way for "The Lord of
the Rings".
