MONTY PYTHON AUDITIONS TO HIT NEW YORK CITY
Hollywood, CA (April 29, 2004) – Actors, performers and Monty Python fans from the U.S. and Canada will be converging upon New York City on Saturday, June 5th, to audition for the roles of the young members of Monty Python,
the famed British comedy troupe, in an upcoming feature film.
Hippofilms, a Los Angeles-based film production company, has announced New York City as the next stop of a worldwide casting call for its upcoming theatrical film, GIN AND TONIC, a comic-drama based on the life of late Python member Graham Chapman.
The first auditions for GIN AND TONIC took place in Hollywood, California on March 20th, 2004, and saw many die-hard, costumed Python fans camped out on the street overnight, drawing the ire of some local residents.
According to David Eric Brenner, President of Hippofilms, “The first Monty Python auditions redefined how much fun an auditioning process can be. The costumes were hilarious, the camaraderie amazing, and most important, the
comedic talent was inspired. We’re expecting more of the same in New York.”
Hippofilms is working closely with The Graham Chapman Archives to select six young actors to portray the world-famous comedians (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) in a $12
million feature film to be shot in London later this year.
Jim Yoakum, Director of the Graham Chapman Archives, stated, “In the comedic spirit of Graham Chapman and Monty Python, these auditions will be open to everyone. No experience necessary, no sanity required.”
The New York City auditions will take place on Saturday, June 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Theatre Row Studios, 410 West 42nd Street, New York City, New York 10036. Following the auditions will be a lively GIN AND
TONIC/Python-themed mixer at a nearby Manhattan pub. Those seeking further information about the auditions can visit the GIN AND TONIC film website: www.ginandtonicmovie.com.
