I'm not happy about another "Ernest", either, but
movies are in the works- John Hudgens is playing him.
I console myself with the fact that it keeps Jim's
memory alive for more people; and children will be
able to get the "genuine article" and compare it to
the imitator. It's ironic: Jim Varney could imitate
any actor in Hollywood (or about anywhere else)- and
now we have people mimicking him!

From what I saw on the Web, Hudgens seems to be
somewhat of a philanthropist- if you go to
jimvarney "dot"org you can see some samples of his
doing present-day Ernest commercials. I put in "dot"
because yahoo might not allow for actual web
addresses.
