Hi-

Jim was going to amke a movie of a similar title- do't
know if they had started filming- but his illness
prevented this.

As "Ernest", the only song he did was "Gee, I'm Glad
it's Raining"- in Ernest Goes to Camp. Jim was
actually both an excellent country-western singer and
songwriter as well- also played the guitar. I will be
very happy if someday these songs will be published
and can be shared with everybody.

In the horrible Snowboard Academy, he sings a "campy"
song and plays the guitar- but except for a few bars
the talking pretty-much drowns things out... a song
about all the women who reject him and kill him with
heartache; he had no lack of women who were interested
in him in reality, of course, as he was really very
good-looking with an extraordinary mind and talent.

A man by the name of John Hudgens, who is the voice of
"Ernest" in commercials presently airing, is also
going to be making some Ernest films. He resembles Jim
somewhat and had been imitating him for years; he
hails from Arkansas and had been a news commentator at
one time. IMO there cannot be a satisfying
replacement-- Jim's "Ernest" was a masterpiece of
comedy- so much cannot be adequately imitated. My
favorite screen portrayals by Jim were "Jed" in The
Beverly Hillbillies" and the pilot of "The Rousters",
where he plays "Evan Earp"; that can be had cheaply on
eBay and I cannot imagine any Ernest fan's not loving
it (and it's absolutely clean and very funny). He
plays a loveable well-meaning con-artist traveling
with his brother in a carnival in the eighties.

How I wish that someone-somewhere- filmed Jim in one
of his Shakespearian roles- those were his favorites,
but he never did these professionally as a mature
adult.

Hope this helps a bit.
:o)
