Hey folks,

I just got an opening night souvenir program for the STARLITE DRIVE-IN THEATRE
which at the time was located 1/2 mile off Niagara Falls Blvd. on Military (as
stated on the program cover). I was told that this drive-in was located in or
around Niagara Falls, NY. This is a great rare item as most of these were no
doubt thrown out afterwards. I am trying to get an opening date so I know when
this drive-in opened and possibly a copy of some vintage pics as well. Based on
the artwork especially of the cars, on the cover, it would be at least mid to
late 1940's. Can anyone out there help me out on this? I already tried
Drive-ins.com and they had the theater listed there but no pics or any other
info. Please let me know.
   Thanks,
   Charles Bruss

Hello everyone,

I am posting this question to all the drive-in groups. I am finally back on
track on getting my documentary done on the 41 Twin drive-in theater that used
to be in Franklin, WI. I have a trailer for the movie, "Drive-in," that came
out around 1976. I was wondering if anyone knew what film company to contact
that did the movie so I can try to contact them and get permission to play it in
my documentary. And who should I ask for when calling them? Or does anyone
have any contact info regarding the use of this trailer in my film project.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

   Thanks,
   Charles Bruss

Sending this email out to all the drive-in groups. Does anyone know for sure if
the first Drive-in theater in the Chicago area was the drive-in located on
Waukegan & Golf Roads? And is it the first drive-in theater in Illinois? I
have come across two original ads from 1944 that I will be putting on my

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let folks know that I have finally updated my original drive-in
newspaper ads from Wisconsin page on my website. Several of you have told me
that you enjoy seeing these old ads in their original glory. (not microfilmed).
I have added a total of 72 ads for all the drive-ins listed, and ads for 8
Wisconsin drive-ins that I previously had no ads for.
   My site is at: www.drive-inthruwisconsin.com
I am still working on the page of the same type but for ads from across all 50
states!! I will let you know when that is finished but should be a while. So
check it out and let me know what you think!!

As a final note, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe
holiday season! (yes, I said Merry Christmas).

   Sincerely,
   Charles Bruss

Hello folks,

I would like to take the time to tell you that Mark Bialek who was the past
president of the Drive-in Theater Fan Club and co-founder is thinking about
bringing back the club. To anyone that remembers the club will recall what a
great publication it was and how indepth it was relating to anything about
drive-in theaters. It was very member friendly with many articles written by
club members. This club was great for also getting other drive-in theater fans
together for fan club meets at their local drive-ins. I organized one at the 18
Outdoor Theater in Jefferson, WI back in 2000. It was the most attended fan
club meet that year with member traveling from as far away as California,
Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri.

Old drive-in photos as well as articles about your favorite open drive-ins and
memorabilia too etc! It was all in there. I certainly miss the club since it's
last issue in 2000. But this is where you come in. Mark is taking an online
poll to see what kind of interest there is out there on bringing back the club.

To cast your vote to bring back the fan club, go to:
www.driveintheatrefanclub.org .

I know there are a lot of people that belong to these yahoo drive-in groups.
I know you would love this club if you love drive-in theaters. So please, take
the time to vote for bringing back the club, so everyone can again experience
the magic that is the Drive-in Theater Fan Club. For more info on the club and
other drive-in related items that were part of the club, check out:
http://www.driveintheatre.org/ and click on the individual links.

So please vote for the club!

   Thanks,

Hey everyone,

I will be posting this question to all the drive-in groups, sorry if you get
duplicate emails. My question is:

Are there any state by state listings of open drive-in theaters like the ones
in the Motion Picture Almanacs that give the list by STATE, NAME, OWNER, CARS
SIZE ETC. I am looking for the oldest list that has been published by Motion
Picture Almanac, or Film Daily Yearbooks etc. for some research that I am doing.
The oldest list I have is from the 1947-1948 International Motion Picture
Almanac. It just lists the open drive-ins at the time state by state which is
fine too. Does anyone know of any older lists that exist? 1946 or older? If
so, can you send a scanned copy to my email or other arrangements that can be
made. Any help would be appreciated.

   Thanks in advance,
   Charles Bruss

know where R. Hollingshead Jr. is buried? Anyone actually been there? Is there

Also, is his son still alive that was featured in one of the drive-in

I just saw a teaser preview for a segment to be aired on the NBC nighly news

showed a screen lit up with an old trailer. Just thought everyone would like to
