Next @ the disTHIS! Film Series: disability through a whole new lens

Title: Ready, Willing & Able (2001)
Director: Jenni Gold
Running Time: 85 minutes
Think people with disabilities are heroic? Normally, we'd argue against the stereotype, but if the wheelchair user packs a piece and blows up semi-trucks even we concede.
Christopher Templeton (Young and the Restless, Hill Street Blues, Fraiser), herself a polio survivor, stars as Samantha "Sam" Martin, a CIA special agent determined to continue her career after she is injured in the line of duty. When Sam discovers a deadly chemical weapons conspiracy she does what agents to best -- assembles a ragtag team of specialists and embark on a seemingly impossible and deadly mission. Did we mention that Sam, uses a wheelchair?
This fast-paced independently produced thriller, by award-winning director Jenni Gold, has enjoyed sold-out screenings and has been honored at film festivals across the United States and Europe.

The disTHIS! Film Series, a program of the Disabilities Network of NYC in association with DCTV, showcases independent and international short, documentary and feature films with disability themes you are unlikely to see elsewhere. disTHIS! movies are always provocative; never what audiences expect. No handkerchief necessary, no heroism required. This is disability through a whole new lens. We are made possible, in part, by the generous support of The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
