Not sure how folks here feel about this, even though it's somewhat DS -
related (though it's not like he's on the soundtrack).
If you'd prefer not to see these kinds of posts, I'll delete it.
BTW - I watched RACING DAYLIGHT this week on DVD. Was disapopinted
with the overall execution - I don't think the director was completely
equipped to pull off what she was trying to do. I also found Melissa
Leo's performance suprisingly awkward at times, even given her
character. She was better in the civil war period scenes. I liked DS
best in his present-day character, especially in the last section done
from his point of view.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKESHORE RECORDS EXTENDS INVITATION TO THE UNINVITED
Christopher Young Scores the Movie, Based on the Korean Horror Film Changhwa
Hongryon.
(February 9, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) - Lakeshore Records will release the
soundtrack for THE UNINVITED, available digitally (iTunes and Amazon Digital) on
January 27th and in stores on February 10. The film is based on the 2003 Kim
Jee-Woon's 2003 film, Changhwa Hongryon. Christopher Young (Untraceable,
Spiderman 3) composed the score.
Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young has scored almost 100
successful features ranging across virtually every genre, all with strikingly
original music. Never repeating himself, Young's works extend from the
spine-tingling Hellraiser showcasing his seminal upbringing in horror; to the
new-techno sound of Swordfish and the resonant, genuine Celtic sounds of The
Shipping News. With each successive Christopher Young crafted score, the
composer continually stretches the bounds of his versatility.
Young has worked with some of the top filmmakers of the past ten years including
Norman Jewison (The Hurricane and Bandits), Sam Raimi (The Gift, Spiderman 3,
The Grudge and The Grudge 2) and Curtis Hanson (Lucky You, Wonder Boys). In
addition to his busy film-composing schedule, Young is imparting his experience
and knowledge to a new generation of film composers, teaching at USC since the
early nineties. He is a two-term past president of The Film Music Society and
the president of the Madrid Film Music Festival in Spain.
THE UNINVITED revolves around Anna (Emily Browning) who returns home after
spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her
recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathaim) has
become engaged to her mother's former nurse, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks). That
night Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's
intentions. Together Anna and her sister (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their
father that his current fiancée is not who she pretends to be, and what should
have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between
stepdaughters and stepmother.
Dreamworks Pictures presents THE UNINVITED in theaters nationwide on January 30,
2009. THE UNINVITED original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available
via iTunes and Amazon Digital on January 27th and in stores on February 10,
2009.

Well if you are still interested in some movies. I have "With friends

very faster, I promise you something last summer but I didn't found
the DVD until yesterday. I don't remember wich ones are you waiting

Well , i don't know if I will help you, I believe not.
I try to capture TV on computers from many time ago, I don't know why
but quality ussually is very bad. I try with many card Hauppauge,
Pinnacle, etc any of them give a really good quality. I don't know
about new one. I finnally decide don't do that. After capture you
need many free sapce on your hard disc, then perhaps you need to copy
it to DVD, and all of this is a hard job. I prefered to buy a DVD
recorder with hard disc and record what I want easilly and in better
conditions.
I believe computer and hard disc is like digital photo cameras, never
the quality is the same of old photograph, now the video cameras with
hard disc had a very bad image quality (like when photos had 2 mp
quality).I believe we are still on the begining of the evolution
procces. For photos now you can have more than 10 mp, but then you
need 1 GB for only 100 photos. If you make a trip and begin to take
photos eassilly you can take more than 300 (this mean a 4GB card).
Well, ever, you need more and more big Hard disc space to obtain a
quality similar than old suports.
All of this have problems in consecuence of the transmissions, was
more instantanly to record on tape or 36mm support for photos than
transmit information to a hard disc or a DVD (read and write - you
need to procces the information during the operation-)
But, sure Andrea perhaps will know more than me, I only talk for
personal experiences, I'm not an expert.

About opinions many people like De Niro, and I coudn't with him, for
me is one of teh most overrated actors, ever with those faces,
sometimes remember me Stallone but De Niro is an actor of course.
About Streep I think is very god actress, is one of the few older
(more than 50)survivors , like Sarandon and few more. For women is
more dificult to survive the 50 than for men.
About DS I only hope that can be on the best conditions soon to act
on theatre again. Sure I couldn't come to USA in many time (for the
crisis) but...perhaps one day will be possible to see a play trough
the neet, (paying of course),like a video conference.

Thanks Wilma.
That's too bad about his foot. While most of the posts were
sympathetic/complimentary, there was one really nasty post that was
very insulting to DS. Another poster didn't like him in DANCE OF
DEATH (not his finest stage hour to be sure, but hardly the total
sum of what he can do).
Everyone has an opinion, I guess.

So did anyone here see it over the weekend? Most of the reviews I
read were mixed to bad, though Roger Ebert did have a nice quote about
DS being able to talk in a reassuring tone and yet suggesting
something quite different.

Darn. I missed it. Happy Belated Birthday, David. You are the best!
I was seeing news from Broadway theatre new seasson, seems like years
ago, many famous names on the plays, I believe that in crisis times
need to put names to catch people, Many plays seem very interestings.
"Waiting Godot" looks like one of the best.
I hope prices for hotels or flights can be low prices, like 4-5 ago and
make the trip possible, lattelly were a bit expensives.
Since this will be a wide release, many of us can catch this at the
same time. I hope this will be a good horror flick like the remake
of "The Ring" rather than one of the bad American remakes of an Asian
horror film.
There certainly are a fair number of horror films coming out next
month, and a lot of them look bad, so let's cross our fingers that
this one works, if just for the cast.
Happy Holidays to the group too, and my best wishes for 2009.
Saw My Blueberry Nights two days ago, great movie and great job of
all the characters.

as well as the recent "Across the Universe."IMDB doesn't list the character that
DS plays - it's not Prospero. In this film version, Prospero has a gender change
to Prospera, and is played by the superb Helen Mirren. Not sure how well this
will work, but it should be interesting.Interesting, motley cast from the UK and
US: Chris Cooper (who plays the villanous Antonio, Prospera's brother), Alan
Cumming, Alfred Molina and Russell Brand as the two comic characters, & Djimon
Hounsou as Caliban. My guess is that DS plays Gonzalo, one of the people
shipwrecked on Properos(as) island. He is the one genuinely good character in
the play.Next DS joins a new production of Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" in NYC
at the Roudabout Theater as the character Lucky. The two leads are Nathan Lane
and Bill Irwin. John Goodman is also in the cast. Pity DS isn't one of the
leads, IMO. Performances start on April 10th, 2009 and the official opening
night is April 30th. It's being called a limited engagement, but there's no end
date listed.

DS has just finished shooting a new film version of "The Tempest,"
being directed by Julie Taymor, who did a film of "Titus Andronicus"
back in the 90's as well as the recent "Across the Universe."
