Saw this on DVD last night. DS and Anthony Mackie provided the real
acting sparks. The film felt like an attempt to create a similar
atmosphere to "To Kill A Mockingbird", but it really dragged in spots.
I wish more focus had been put on the defendants rather than the
gentlemanly rivalry between the two lawyers, which wasn't all that
interesting IMO. Some of the acting was quite bad (Leelee Sobieski in
particular; even Hutton's acting seemed awkward at times), but some of
the courtroom scenes had the necessary tension.
At one point, DS's character sat in a chair diagonally in front of the
defendant. I wondered what that was about. Anyone here have ideas?
