"I once saw a vaudeville type scene with Danny Kaye. It involved a sofa and
him running in to it, climbing over it, going up the wall etc. It was done
in modern dress and was probably 3 minutes or so."
This sounds exactly like the "Makeum Laugh" routine done by Donald O'Connor
in "Singin' in the Rain". It is considered one of the funniest scenes in
movie history ( I have to agree). I've seen all of Danny's movies, and I
can't recall off hand seeing a scene like one you described. Could Danny
have been doing a parody scene of "Singin" on one of his TV shows?
Try renting a copy of "Singin' in the Rain" and see if that is the scene you
remember. Better yet, buy it, it's a great movie.
