June Letter from Daniel Wu   Message List

Hello Everybody!
It's me, Daniel!
Welcome to all you new people on the list. I seem to be getting more
and more
people on here everyday! Yes, this is actually me, Daniel Wu; writing
to all of
you and it is only me reading all of your mails. I am managing all
the e-mails
and newsletters by myself; it's a difficult job! But in my effort to
keep in contact
with all of you I will keep working hard on this!

First things first. I would like to talk about some technical issues:

#1. I'm getting so much mail everyday, so it is very, very important
that you DO
NOT send me any forwarded mail. This means jokes, chain letters or
any
documents over 100k. I know you may think this kind of stuff is
important but it
blocks up the e-mail account and prevents other people from writing
in. So to
be fair to everybody, PLEASE only original messages! I will
automatically
delete and block sender on anything else.

#2. Please spread the word to anyone who wants to subscribe to this
newsletter to please do so. I can no longer spend the time to add
everyone to
the newsletter list myself. So if you want to receive these
newsletters please
sign up.

With your help I can continue managing the e-mails smoothly and
efficiently.
Thanks a lot!

OK...After I finished working on The Peeping, I've been on a short
break from
making to work on some personal projects, which I will tell you more
about
when the time is right. I was alos in Taiwan doing the new Biore for
Men
commercial. I had a fun time this year. Those of you in Taiwan should
be able
to see it soon! I have also been learning how to do DV movie editing
on my
new computer. It's a very difficult and time consuming process but it
is also
very fun to edit your own movies at home! Also as some of you may
have seen
in the newspaper I have doing some artwork. I have always loved art
since I
was a small boy so I have decided to spend some time doing this. I've
been
painting and doing some photography. I will post some of my photos on
this
newsletter hopefully sometime soon. Please give me your comments!
I have received many letters about the movie The Peeping. Many of you
are
upset that I would do this movie and have been worrying about my
image. One
thing I must make clear, The Peeping IS NOT a "porn" or Category III
movie. It
is a IIB, which means it is for mature audiences, it is not meant for
everybody to
watch. Unfortunately the movie distribution company decided to focus
on the
"sexy" part of the movie rather than the story to promote it. If you
were to watch
the movie, you would find that the love scenes in the movie amount to
maybe
three minutes total. Three minutes out of ninety minutes is hardly
what I would
call "porn". I chose to work on this project because I found the
story and the
character interesting to me. I remind everyone that I am an ACTOR, I
am not a
singer or popstar. So I'm not as concerned with my image as a person
as I am
with my ability to do my job as an actor. In fact it is my duty to
convince the
audience that the person on screen is anything BUT the real Daniel
Wu. That is
part of what acting is about for me. For those of you who have been
following
my movies from the beginning, you know that I have always done
"controversial" and non-standard roles. That is my choice as an actor
and I will
continue my career in this manner. I enjoy exploring different roles
because it
gives me deeper insight on not only my acting but the general human
condition
as well.

This doesn't guarantee that every movie I do will be great or good.
That is up to
the director. It also doesn't mean that you must watch every movie I
do, that is
up to you. You have the freedom to choose just like me. I apologize
if people
feel upset about my decision but it is important to me that you all
understand
my point of view.

Next I would like to answer some questions:

Many of you have been wondering how to get my first movie Bishonen on
VCD
or DVD. Luckily Yonfan, the director, has a website where you can get
Bishonen and Peony Pavilions. The address is: www.yonfan.com. Check
it
out!

Also I would like to clear up my Bio a little bit:

I was born in San Francisco, Ca- USA. My Mother and Father are both
from
Shanghai. That makes me 100% Shanghainese. I am not mixed at all,
even
though I may look it. Maybe I ate too many hamburgers when I was in
the
States-hehehe!

I currently live in Hong Kong and am usually here most of the year. I
try to go
home and visit my Mother and Father when I get time off.

For university, I went to the University of Oregon and received a
B-Arch in
Architecture and a minor in Art History graduating in 1997. It was
also here
where I started the University of Oregon Wushu Team, which is a
program that
is still running strong today! Go Ducks!

My current mailing address is:
6/F Prosperous Centre
1 Knutsford Terrace,
T.S.T. Kowloon
Hong Kong
If you would like to receive an autographed photo of me, please send
a self-
addressed envelope to the above address!

OK That's it for now! Remember...Don't buy pirate VCDs or DVDs!
Take care!

Love,
Daniel Wu
