I was working in Redruth last year for 6 months when the work to the front of the building was done and was invited to present some films at the opening event. The front of the building was remarkable and with working in Redruth at the time I was able to witness the progress of the building front and the installation of the neon lighting. IN fact I have some photos of that day and the switch on, if anyone wants to see them I can put them on Flicker.
At the time, the regeneration agency hadn’t plans to contribute to the refurbishment of the rear and sides of the building (hidden from the high street) which were in a state at the time, so it was really great to see your photos of the completed building – it looks great. Geof from Merlin must be very pleased.
Regarding the other building on the way into Redruth. Not sure that it was actually a cinema. I did some research on that building whilst I was in Redruth and no one ever recalled it being a actual cinema – more of some kind of ballroom / hall or other form of entertainment building. Does anyone have any factual details on this building?

Hello All,
I thought you might be interested to see some of the pictures I took of
the Regal Cinema in Redruth last week while I was back home:

They have just spent several months repainting and reroofing the building
and it now looks fantastic and stands out quite away away. There was a
story in this weeks West Brition about it:
"Redruth's Regal Cinema has been redecorated and given a new lease of life
thanks to a major regeneration scheme. The Redruth Heritage Economic
Regeneration Scheme has helped fund a major exterior refurbishment of the
building this included strucutural repairs, replacement windows and the
instatement of metal works. Since it's launch four years ago the
regenration project has helped improve 35 properties in Redruth with the
hope of boosting the town's economic growth."
I also took a picture of a former cinema at the bottom of Redruth which
was last used as part of the former Redruth Brewery and which as far as I
know hasn't been used for 30 years as a cinema. (Certainly I reach that
age this year and unless it was operating as a baby I know it hasn't been
one!).
