Casting
Columbia University graduate student casting for a short film currently in development. The story centers around a Dominican-American family living in Washington Heights and deals with sensitive issues including domestic violence, incest and teenage pregnancy. Will begin shooting scenes from the film in March and looking to work with actors who are comfortable with improvisation and preferably native Spanish speakers. Casting for the following roles: MANUEL (40-50) father of Diego (10) and stepfather of Carmen (16); hardworking doorman who exudes confidence and control but is still a big baby himself. Wants everyone in his house to be happy but
doesn't want to have to put too much effort into making the peace. GLORIA (40-50) DOMINICAN, mother of two, divorced from her first husband who was physically abusive, Gloria has a tough, guarded exterior but is insecure and fearful underneath. CARMEN (16) DOMINICAN, mature beyond her sixteen years having survived domestic violence as a child; she is not afraid to fight for what she wants but does not always want what's best for her. DIEGO (10) DOMINICAN, fawned over by everyone in his tense household, Diego knows just how to charm his way out of anything and always gets what he wants. The script was written by Vinicius Alexandrino (Bom Garoto) and will be directed by Olivia Newman. Auditions will begin this weekend so please contact OCN.FILM@... to schedule
an appointment.
Casting I am currently casting a play that goes up in March at the Wild Project, www.thewildproject.com <http://www.thewildproject.com> called Secret Agenda of Trees. I am in need of a young hispanic male actor who can portray a member of a gang, yet he has a gentle side that exudes a lot of humanity. The actor has to basically pass for about 16-18. MEET TOP CASTING DIRECTOR AMY GOSSELS! *ONE ON ONE COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP* ($35) SIGN UP NOW TO GUARANTEE YOURSELF THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY IN MARCH! OUR WORKSHOPS UP UNTIL NOW WENT SO WELL AND SOLD OUT SO QUICKLY THAT WE DECIDED TO SET UP TWO NEW WORKSHOPS – SEE DATES BELOW!
Due to the overwhelming interest in meeting top Film, Television and Commercial Casting Director AMY GOSSELS, and the fact that the number of people we can actually audition at our casting sessions is so limited, we have decided to set up a few SPECIAL workshops where you will not only have the chance to meet and work with Amy Gossels personally, but you will also get a chance to meet and get acquainted with her associate Eliza Khan, who handles a lot of the bookings and is very involved in the decision making process. Again, this is a unique opportunity because you will have a few minutes ONE on ONE with Amy and you will be able to show her a little work - and since Amy specializes in commercial casting which is such a lucrative type of work for actors - you will read some commercial copy and it will be set up like a commercial audition, but the big
difference will be that you will then get really productive and constructive feedback from her on how to improve that audition and potentially be more capable of booking future jobs! Also, by meeting her, those of you who stand out will certainly have a much better chance of being brought in for actual commercial auditions in the future, since Amy, like most Casting Directors, tends to give preference to actors she's met and whose work she feels good about! Also, after you read your copy and get her feedback, you will be able to give it another take, so you can show your ability to make adjustments. Plus, you will have a couple minutes to sit and ask her questions about the business and/or tell her a little bit about yourself and of course, personally give her your headshot for her files! And finally, before and after your one on one time with Amy, you will be able
to get acquainted with her associate Eliza, and ask her questions about the business as well, and Eliza has been casting in New York for the past 10 years herself! These workshops will be limited to a select number of respondents, so if you are interested, please get back to us right away! We set up several workshops in the months of January and February, and due to the enormous response and the fact that these first several workshops sold-out so quickly, we have decided to add two new workshops, in early March! The upcoming workshop dates are Saturday, March 7th from 3:30 - 6:00pm and Tuesday, March 10th from 6:00-8:30pm, in Mid-town Manhattan, and each person will be given a 5 minute time slot, so you don’t need to make a full afternoon
commitment! Just please let us know which date you are interested in when you respond! The cost of this ONE on ONE workshop is only $35, and whether you’re new to the business or a very seasoned professional, this is a GREAT – and very affordable - investment in your career and way to jump start your career in 2009!! Also, if you are interested, we will happily forward Amy Gossels’ extensive Casting Bio and you can look up her more than 50 Film Casting Director credits on imdb at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0331652/ <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0331652/>
