Bradley and Dr. Fear~

Thanks ever for much for the Count Gregore theme music file. Being a
native of Central Illinois, it was not til I came upon the internet
that I discovered the good Count. If only I had been an Oklahoma
resident growing up, I, too, would have felt the Count's bite when
watching late night horror movies. Thanks again, gents.

                                       Graveyard regards,
                                         The Frightmeister

I look for-weird to more files and pics of Count Gregore from you,
plus the Count Gregore website. Im all agog :)

I'm so glad the time has come to celebrate the talents of one of the
most loved character actors that this state has. John Ferguson first
gave me the "BITE" to be in the entertainment business when I was 16
years old in 1975 and he gave me my first taste of Television as he
allowed me to be FRANKENSTEIN along with he and Mr. APE. (I'm the
FRANKENSTEIN" in the picture on the homepage.)

John is a great man who I am proud to call a friend and it was great to
be paired up with John again at Reel to Reel 2005. A lot of people
come and go in the entertainment business, but I'm proud to say John
has always remained a friend and it's always a pleasure to see him.

Thank you for creating this long over-due group!

Sincerely, Mark, Frankenstein, King Size King, Ranger Roger, and all
the other characters I have had the honor to play that's to the early
encouragement of one John Ferguson. Thank you John!

I can't believe this! For the past seven years I've been scouring the net
for ANY material relating to Count Gregore, as I feel I grew up with him. He
was a secondary parent figure to me, hosting his way into my living room as
I watched my beloved monster movies all throughout my formative years. And

great files, and not only to see that he's still alive, but to see that I

I had really wanted to go to the event this year, particularly because of
the classic horror theme, but it unfortunately fell on a very bad weekend
for me this time out. But I had never seen anything advertising the Count
would be there. I just may have skipped out on my high school 10 year
reunion that weekend for that! Hopefully he'll be making more appearances
somewhere soon. I'm just glad that Mr. Wynn posted the link to this group

Bradley,

I had sent a reply the day I read this but Yahoo never seemed to
have sent it and posted it on the club. I think the idea would be
great, this would help fund some events, etc to do more Gregorian
things. We thought about doing this all the way back to our show's
beginning, but became too busy to do it.
How about making items that are themed on each period and show
in Gregore's history? From the WKY days and upward.
We were hoping that John is doing well after last week's chaos,
it was quite a night. More Gregore film classics are about to be
edited next week, so Gregorians be ready! This is 'The Mysterious
Lab Presents Count Gregore'. Hopefully, John and our group can film
more future episodes to keep his legacy running, if only in Enid
Oklahoma for a while.

THE DOCTOR

I hope John was alright after I squeezed the stuffing out of him all
night, I was more thrilled than you can imagine! Brad Pitt or Tom
Cruise would have made me yawn, but here was the guy who gave us all
the late night horror shows we all love so much and was so elegant
coming out of his coffin and gallantly introducing himself as the
count as bats flew overhead and the full moon arose. Creepy but
comical characters with just the right classic touch of the macabre.
It made me want to do just the same...thanks a million!!!!!!LOVE
YA!!!!!

We figured this could be a great way to help us fund the biography for

rather funny to see and hear!

If I forgot anyone, tell me, this was a list of lists and I know I

We had a great time with the celebration of the 3rd year anniversary
of the Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear.

I must admit, I sat on the floor in the back of the studio - just like
when I was a kid, and watched through childhood eyes, John "Count
Gregore" Ferguson perform for the Fear group. The first was the best
and CLASSIC Gregore! I almost pealed laughter during filming - so
glad I held it in check. It recveived a great applause.

Head over to the lab to learn more yourself about a great time.

I was a bit confused by the hairstyle... I assumed Gregore would have
LESS hair, not more, in the later shows (no offense, I hope!)...

If that incredible original 50's SHOCK portrait by the mantel is
reproduced, that is DEFINITELY the one I would most like to have!

And thanks again for your willingness to help... please keep me
informed about any future developments, and I'll do my utmost to help
you publicise them on my website.

I will be placing the VHS tapes and the soundtrack in hands this
coming Thursday to begin conversion to mpeg and wav formats.

The 45LP by the way, is two sided. But when John had it made, he
didn't have anything to put on the other side. So, utilizing the
humor he so often shares, he decided, since side B is the reverse -
record the soundtrack played backward. Even the label is printed
backwards on side B - a GREAT collector's item and a lot of fun!

Getting you the 45 shouldn't be a prob. Have you seen the little I
have in the memorabilia section under the photos?

As for the photos - you can see them in order of appearance on the
poster - starting from upper right and all the way around back to the
top. BUT the one you like - the center one WAS THE FIRST. May 1958
when Gregore first appeared. The original is like 12"x14"! I love
it! I also love the Christmas Nightmare photo in the top hat with a
sprig of dead pine.

There will be lots more to see and share soon! Right now, I'm still
scanning in the NUMEROUS photos. The group won't allow me to put 'em
all up here, so I'm waiting till we have the site. John did a lot
more than just Count Gregore. He is a fun actor.

You must be trying to kill me with kindess, Bradley -- the theme song
would just be TOO cool, if you can swing it!

It's hard to pick one of those great pix on the photo, but I guess
for my website purposes that 50's SHOCK shot would indeed be best --
though I love the mood and Gregore's expression in the photos from
'66, '78 and '83 too. Any one of those shots would be great if they're
available.

When was that great shot in the middle by the mantel taken?
Obviously one of the later years because of the hairstyle...
THAT photo would make a magnificent autographed piece,
signed in that blank picture frame behind him.

Great job on that poster, by the way -- I design a lot of things like
that myself, and I was very impressed with this one.

Will you be offering the poster and other cool stuff on the new
website? Autographs? That would make a lot of old fans very happy.
How soon will the site be up? I can't wait to see it!

Godzillion THANKS in advance for whatever you can do for me --
please keep track of expenses and let me know what they come to.

Dead gratefully,
George "E-gor" Chastain

p.s.
If you do manage to send the record, I'll certainly show it off on
my website too. I'm planning to start displaying stuff like that more
impressively, with individual pages to show LPs, 45s, cardboard masks,
fan club photos, membership cards, autographs, buttons, and other
ephemera from many different horror hosts, arranged side-by-side for
comparison. It should be an eye-popping display, and I'm sure it will
encourage a lot of fans to send in pictures of their own treasures to
add to the collections.

p.p.s.
I spent a memorable couple of months in Oklahoma in 1969-70, when I
was in the Army taking Field Artillery basic training at Fort Sill.
Standing for hours on the firing range in the dead of winter, buffeted
by icy winds whipping across the plains, I got about as cold as I've
ever been in my life! But the folks I met were warm and friendly.

Kelso,

For the moment, the Count Gregore on DVD or VHS situation is not yet
sorted out. Bradley is closer to home in this regard than myself, but
I know that a future plan to do something about this is talked about.
I am very eager to see them as well! Once I watch him doing his thing
again, I will be speechless and hypnotized, no longer a mad scientist
bent on world domination, but just a viewer.
The future episodes with Gregore on my show will be digitized
however, so be ready!

... but meanwhile, I was privileged to recieve the PRESS RELEASE from
the Oklahoma Film Society and The Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear about the
impending PUBLIC appearance of COUNT GREGORE on the show -- including
an autograph opportunity! -- and I'm writing in ABJECT DESPERATION to
ask... nay, IMPLORE someone to intercede on my behalf and get an
autographed photo of John Ferguson as the original COUNT GREGORE for
me! If this is doable, I will be very happy to reimburse any expenses
involved, and I will scan the photo and post it on my website entry
for COUNT GREGORE as soon as I have it in my hot little hands... and
eventually it will also appear in the book that's developing from the
web data. If the photo could be a reproduction of one of Mr.

that would be especially wonderful.

PLEASE help a serious fan of horror hosts with this request!

were just 'training' and 'practise' for what is to come. Though our

The Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear

Brian Young
580-233-4871

August 17, 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ENID, OK (www.themysteriouslabofdrfear.com) -- Enid based horror show
Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear will host its third anniversary episode
with guest actor John Ferguson as Count Gregore on Thursday evening,
August 25, 2005. Special events include public opportunities to
obtain autographs and speak to cast members, including Count Gregore.

The Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear first aired in March of 2002 when
creator Brian Young, inspired by Oklahoma horror host icon, Count
Gregore, and the Mystery Science Theatre 3000, approached Cox Cable
television station Pegasys Channel 11 for a chance to give Northwest
Oklahoma its own place in horror history. Brian Young plays the
show's main character, Dr. Ignatious Faust Fear II and is puppeteer
for Warty. Other featured roles include Romanian vampire maid,
Trinka, reanimated ghoul, Mr. Grimly, and drunken vampire uncle,
Count Vino. This collection of characters, in addition to many
others, interact in skits, public service spoofs, and recurring bits,
while the Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear hosts a wide montage of publicly
owned cheesy horror 'B' movies to an ever growing underground fan
based audience.

Actor John Ferguson will join the cast in its third anniversary
series as vampire Trinka's uncle, Count Gregore. The episode will
include the presentation of an oversized coffin donated for use by
the Oklahoma Film Society.

John Ferguson, a veteran of over fifty years in film, television, and
stage, is honored that next generation horror hosts like Brian Young
were corrupted enough by his performance of Count Gregore to boldly
seek out their own ghastly ways of entertaining audiences
everywhere. Count Gregore first appeared as WKY-TV's horror host for
Shock Theatre on May 10, 1958. His familiar visage, public service
announcements, and entertaining skits resulted in hosting additional
horror shows Thriller, Nightmare, Sleepwalker's Matinee, Creature
Features, Horror Theatre, and Scream Country Theatre, enamoring him
to millions of fans across the country. Time and opportunity has
allowed him to continue his television haunts, establishing him as
the longest running horror host in the world, sparking a biography
book and documentary tentatively entitled Fangs for the Memories,
slated to begin filming in October 2005.

Event festivities for the third anniversary series of The Mysterious
Lab of Dr. Fear, will take place at Pegasys Community Access
Television, Studio A, starting at 6pm, 123 West Main, Enid,
Oklahoma. The general public is encouraged to attend.

To learn more about The Mysterious Lab of Dr. Fear visit them online
at www.themysteriouslabofdrfear.com. A website featuring episodes,
theme music, outakes, photos and more about Count Gregore will soon
be available at www.countgregore.com. To learn more about the
Oklahoma Film Society visit www.okfs.org.

Count Vino (Dennis) here,

Can't wait for Thursday night for you and the Count to
come to our little get together. My fiftieth birthday
is next Sunday and this party with John will be as
good a gift as I could ask for. I remember watching
Gregore's Nightmare when it came on late on Friday
nights at midnight. It's the main influence on me as a
fan of old monster movies and now I am working on a
horror hosted show. I just finished the script to the
start of the fourth season and after we get this
anniversary party out of the way we will be going into
production for that. When you come down I will try to
get some more DVDs copied so you can take a few more
episodes back with you. This is going to be fun.

Bradley and other Gregorians --
George "E-gor" Chastain here, webmonster of E-gor's Chamber of TV
Horror Hosts, which has a woefully insufficient entry on COUNT GREGORE
here:

http://myweb.wvnet.edu/e-gor/tvhorrorhosts/hostsc.html#CountGregore

despite the pair of spiffy fan portraits Mr. Wynn sent me some time
ago, only recently added on a sidebar.

I've never seen Count Gregore in action, but would certainly like to
(and would also love to acquire an autographed photo for my collection).

There's info about more than 300 other horror hosts on my site, and I
have a backlog of another 50 or so I'm working on now -- and
discovering more every day. The complete story will never be known,
of course, but this is a perfect application for the Internet, IMHO.

Hope some of you can help improve my entry on the Count by filling in
some missing details, telling me links to add, sending in personal
memories, etc.

I'll add a link to this Group ASAP.

Thanks for the use of the hall,

George Chastain

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma Gazette featured an article on our beloved
John Ferguson, aka Count Gregore.  A scanned copy can be found in the
photos section under Clippings.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Until the website is up and ready, this will serve as the online
resource for anything Count Gregore related.

Work has recently begun on what is tentatively being called:

FANGS FOR THE MEMORIES Biography Book/Documentary combo.

More will be shared, as is available. In the meantime, please, feel
free to head over and book mark www.countgregore.com

As always, all memories of John and the Count are welcome and
encouraged. We also ask for any info on early television too ranging
from the early 50's to 90's.

Bradley
