Re: [clevelandfilmmaking] Director seeks camera, equipment rental

Pat,
Thanks for your interest. I liked your reel. I am leaning toward using
DVX100-family cameras for "The Bride and the Grooms." It said director reel --
were you the DP for all of those shots, too? And was everything shot with your
DVX-100A? You said you don't have a boom pole. Were those scenes shot with a
handheld mic?
So far, I have three other camera people, each with a DVX 100 or 100a. Two of
them are only available evenings and weekends. The third person is available for
the entire shoot and could be the DP. Or someone else -- possibly you -- could
be the DP. The 11-day shoot will take place from July 17-27. Thursday, July 17,
will be a day trip to Pittsburgh. Friday, July 18, we will shoot a road trip
to West Virginia. Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, we will shoot in
Charleston, W.Va., staying two nights at my parents' house. I will provide all
food on those two trips, and we are taking my cars. Two actors, the DP and I
will make the Pittsburgh trip. The five lead actors, the DP and I will make the
Charleston trip.
July 21-27, we will shoot in various locations in the Akron area. The final day
of shooting, Sunday, July 27, we will have all four cameras (at least), and we
will shoot two weddings in a church and two receptions in the fellowship hall
next door. With 500 extras. It's an ambitious shoot.
Since this would be your first non-documentary feature, how much are you willing
to come down on your rates?  If you could defer some of your pay, that would
help, too. This will be my first feature, too, so we would be helping each other
out. We will get plenty of press locally once the movie gets rolling. We already
have had articles printed about the movie in the Boston Herald, Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review and Charlotte Observer newspapers.
Think it all over, and let's talk about it.

Hey Butch,

I have (1) DVX-100A with accessories (Bogen sticks, filters) that look to
be available with myself as the operator for the entirety of your shoot.
I've also got a Lowell Omni/Tota light package and Audio-Technica shotgun
mics (AT-815b and AT-897) if you're interested, though the mics don't come
with a boompole as I've primarily used them for run 'n gun documentary
shoots.

For the camera/operation, my day rate is $400/10 hr day, $50/hr OT (10-12
hrs.), and $65/hr DT (12+).

Light kit is $50/day, and the mics are $25/day.

Reel/resume can be seen via my website: www.lakewoodfilms. com/pat.html

Let me know if you're interested. Sounds like a fun project.

Thanks,
Pat Norman
