| http://euroasiashorts.com EuroAsia Shorts: Short Films from Europe, Asia and the United States showcases short films from various countries, comparing them according to different themes. The festival committee invites filmmakers from China, India, Japan, Korea, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the United States to submit short films for consideration in our Washington, DC-based Showcase June 1 - 6, 2009. The film, director or writers must be from one of the organizing nations: - Europe: France, Italy, Spain, Germany - Asia: Japan, Korea, India, China - North America: USA The film must fit one of the themes: - Generations/Getting Older - Cities/Urban Environment - Humor - Fears and Phobias - Beauty The films serve as a springboard to discussion of the themes and how they are addressed in different countries, particularly through the medium of film. Each evening will focus on comparing Asian, European and US cultures in regards to particular themes. The nightly hour and a half screening at an Embassy or Cultural Center will be followed by discussion of the films and the topics with several panelists.
