The 100 Worst Actors and Directors of All Time!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #827 of 976 |
ATTENTION all fans of "B", cult, exploitation, schlock, grindhouse,
sci-fi, and slasher movies (as well as enthusiasts of all other
forms of cinema known to man): I am proud to announce the release of
the ultimate guide to trash cinema filmmakers, Cheesy, Sleazy Mixed-
Up Astro-Zombies: The 100 Worst Actors and Directors of All Time
(2008 Publish America)!

Cheesy, Sleazy Mixed-Up Astro-Zombies: The 100 Worst Actors and
Directors of All Time is a chronicle of the lowest of the low in the
motion picture industry. Over the years, bad movies have become one
of the trendiest genres of the movies. This book highlights the
leaders (both past and present) of this budding bad movie movement.

So, how does one become a bad movie icon? Well, if you are a
director, making movies on a consistent basis that are outlandish,
wretched and ghastly are mandatory. The movies must also be amateur
in appearance; showing no aptitude in the art of filmmaking doesn't
hurt. Only the truly horrible films will meet the strict standards
of the bad movie connoisseur. As for actors, appearing as if you've
never acted before in your life is a good start. Zero screen
presence is a must. Overacting is a another necessary trait, but a
filthy and homely appearance helps as well.

Now, you might ask: why would anyone want to watch a terrible movie?
I cannot lie…viewing some of these films may be one of the most
painful experiences you will ever have. Still, these movies on the
lowest end of the film spectrum are usually so bad that they are
also hilarious. While you are double up in agony, you can't help but
be in awe of someone who can create something so miserable,
incompetent and destructive. Once one becomes hooked on watching
awful movies, it is hard to stop.

In Cheesy, Sleazy Mixed-Up Astro-Zombies: The 100 Worst Actors and
Directors of All Time, I scour back in time and pick the 100
individuals whose ineptitude stands out. These people represent the
pits of the movie business. Individuals from every generation are
accounted for—from the substandard filmmakers of the silent movie
days to the modern day movie hacks. Some of the names will be very
familiar: bad movie superstar Edward D. Wood Jr. made the list, as
did supermodel Kathy Ireland and former Disney whiz-kid Tommy Kirk.
Other names will be much more obscure. But trust me, people like
Arch Hall Jr. (as well as his father Arch Hall Sr.), Coleman Francis
and Ted V. Mickels deserve mention thanks to their mortifying
uselessness and utter lack of skill.

In Cheesy, Sleazy Mixed-Up Astro-Zombies: The 100 Worst Actors and
Directors of All Time, a detailed account of the life and career of
each individual is included. I trace their beginnings, present their
influences and give an in-depth study of their most notorious and
hated (or loved—you choose the description) works. While their
professional lives are covered extensively, so are their personal
lives (with interesting tidbits and trivia incorporated into each
individual's profile). Here, some of the most attention grabbing
aspects of these unconventional movie pioneers will be uncovered.

You will learn about people like Tom Laughlin (who went from making
infuriating and mindless action films to running for the President
of the United States), Phil Tucker (who attempted suicide after one
of his films was lambasted by critics) and Ray Dennis Steckler (who
lived out of his automobile while making his unimaginable films).

Few of these B-movie cranks earned much attention during their
lives. In Cheesy, Sleazy Mixed-Up Astro-Zombies: The 100 Worst
Actors and Directors of All Time, the oddballs who toiled endlessly
making under-funded, tacky and mistake-ridden films get their day in
the sun. Finally, there is a book that profiles the actors and
directors who made us laugh uncontrollably (thanks to their obvious
shortcomings and overwhelming failings). These informative and
humorous biographies of the 100 worst characters in film history are
unforgettable, as were their movies.
