I'm not the original poster, but the topic piqued my interest. So,
I did a Google search for "solondz Fear, Anxiety & Depression" and
found a few snippets, but nothing definitive:
"Despite Solondz' dismissive attitude towards his debut, Fear,
Anxiety and Depression is a great and decidedly funny movie (though
perhaps not quite up to later films, especially technically), which
deserves to be seen, esp. by anyone who considers him/herself a
Solondz fan."

"Who is Dawn Wiener? Only my favorite character from the cinema
ever, introduced in Solondz's film debut, Welcome to the Dollhouse
(he directed one before that called Fear, Anxiety, & Depression that
he's since disowned)."

"The title of his first feature, Fear, Anxiety and Depression
(1989), hinted at its director's state of mind when it was released
and sank without trace. In the early 1990s, he was so disillusioned
by the vagaries of filmmaking that he took a day job teaching
English to Russian immigrants instead."

"Solondz agreed to an interview upon the release of his fifth
feature, Palindromes (he asks folks not to track down his
directorial debut, Fear, Anxiety & Depression, which my editor,
Bill, describes as something like a satire of Solondz films)..."

"This led to Solondz's first feature film, Fear, Anxiety and
Depression (1989), which was not only a critical and commercial
failure, but for Solondz, a lesson in How Directors Don't Have
Control of Their Films."

""Writing and directing my first film was horrible also," he
recalls, "but the difference with Welcome to the Dollhouse is that I
had creative autonomy in a way I hadn't before."

would help us keep going.
Great idea. Let's breathe some life into this group. I've been on a
noir kick lately. Watched "Nightmare Alley" today...
