I am a new member of this group. I am absolutely amazed at how many other
people out there consider Christopher Plummer an icon. Ever since I saw him
in "The Sound of Music" in 1976 when I was in 6th grade I have been in love
with him. I am amazed at his acting talents. I have seen him many, many
times on Broadway and also in local performances here in Connecticut. I
remember one time I drove to the Stratford CT theater to see him perform. I
was determined to meet him in person. Well the first performance I saw him
in I was so star struck when he came out into the lobby after the play that
my mom had to go over and get his autograph. I was frozen.
The second time I brought my sister with me and she said "I will do all the
talking" Well we waited and waited in the lobby of the theater to meet him.
All of a sudden this man approached us and asked if we knew where Preston
was?", that was his driver. Well we almost fell off the chairs when we
realized we were talking to the one and only Christopher Plummer. At which
time my sister froze like an ice cube so I had to go over to him and speak
to him. I handed him a bottle of wine I wanted to give him as a gift. He
asked me why I wanted to give him a gift, my answer "I don't know?", is that
star struck or what. I felt like an idiot. But he was so nice and thanked
me profusely. Then we he walked outside and got in the car he waved as they
pulled away. What a night that was. I still have the 8x10 picture in a
frame with him holding the bottle of wine I gave him. The man is a "GOD"
