Is everybody in the US watching our favorite movie at the moment? I am, but
snob-woman just scared Maria off and I always hate to see that, so I'll go
back and watch in a few minutes.
I posted last night on some of these boards and lists about the Mary Higgins
Clark/Carol Higgins Clark book (The Christmas Thief) I'd just finished
reading which is set in Stowe, Vermont, and has lots and lots of references to
The
Sound of Music and Maria von Trapp. That was my mom's book that I borrowed
long enough to read (after a friend of hers told me about the TSOM and MvT
mentions), but I was already wanting my own copy. Well, today some of my
cousins gave my mom a copy of the same book, so when she opened it, I
immediately
said, "The first one is mine!" LOL! My mother then confirmed that I could
have the first copy of the book since she'd just been given another.
We were with a big bunch of my cousins for Christmas dinner today, so I took
along my laptop computer so I could show them the pictures I took in
Vermont, as well as some family pictures I have stored on here. When my
cousin's
wife was looking at my pictures on my computer, she noticed the desktop
wallpaper I have, which is a TSOM publicity shot of Julie and Christopher, and
she
pointed at Christopher and said, "My daddy looked just like him." As I'm sure
all of you can imagine, my mouth dropped open! Now, my cousin's wife's dad
died when she was very young, long before she married my cousin or before I
knew her, so I had no idea! However, I've always thought my cousin's wife was
absolutely beautiful, so I shouldn't be surprised that her father was
gorgeous. She went on to say that when TSOM came out, people kept telling her
that
her dad had looked like Christopher Plummer and that her mother couldn't
watch the movie for the longest time for that reason. I don't know how old she
was when her dad died, but she was evidently young enough that her memories
of her dad aren't that clear. Anyway, I told her I'd always thought
Christopher Plummer was absolutely gorgeous!
One more comment on Christmas, then I'll sign off so we can call these same
cousins and be sure they made it home safely since the weather's bad..... Some
of my cousins gave me a new, paperback copy of Maria's book, The Story of
the Trapp Family Singers! Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled with it,
since the copy I have is VERY old, and every time I read it, I feel like I
have to be extra careful with it. It's nice to have one I can actually use!
On that note, I'm off to see the rest of the movie. I hope everybody had a
wonderful Christmas; obviously I sure did!
