Members question for me was:
What is the difference between this Group and "liveincebu"
or "livinginthephilippines3" Groups?
Answer is:
The Group "livinginthephilippines3" is very an informative sight,
however, it is heavily moderated and each post is scrutinized for
content. This Group (cebucitytoday) is not moderated and everyone's
opinion is invited.. Also, "livinginthephilippines3" focuses on
mainly positive aspects of Philippine life and many personal posts
concerning opinions or negative statements about the Philippines are
rejected by the moderators. I believe that both the "good"
and "bad" should be presented for everyone to see and individuals
can make up there own minds about what they think or believe. I
believe that if you do not provide people with all the information
you may well be duping them into believing something that is not
accurate.
The Group "liveincebu" I believe is informative, however, this sight
is more liberal in nature. On "cebucitytoday" people are free to
discuss anything. I feel that if someone is not interested in a
topic or post, they can simply skip reading that one. Arguments or
disagreements are Ok as long as they do not get to personal. I like
to see a variety of opinions and ideas about things.
Additional Information about "cebucitytoday". There is a wealth of
knowledge out there that foreigners and Filipinos alike have to
share with both people who reside in the Philippines and those who
are considering living here. This Group is one means of trying to
extract some of that knowledge. Also, this site encourages people
to share thoughts and ideas about anything and everything to do with
Cebu, the Philippines, or life in general.

I am just curious on how you obtained my email address to invite me to join your chat group. I mean, I was just in Cebu last week but don;t recall giving my info to anyone. I am glad to learn as much about the opportunites there but I would like to know how you obtained my info.

We're planning to visit Cebu and Bohol, and we're seeking input based
upon personal experience.
Hypothetically, let's say the two of us stay for 5-7 days on Bohol and
5-7 days on Cebu. We intend for this to be a leizurely, very laid
back, do it day by day thing. We prefer basic low cost beach
bungalows where we can hangout and enjoy the sun/moon.
Manila will be the starting and ending point, and we intend to ride
Superferry.
Any itinerary suggests?
Thanks.
Hi!!
My name is Rick. I am 56 y/o and I live near St. Louis, MO. I will be
comming to your beautiful city one week from today. This must be some
kind of cosmic coicidence. :D I haven't been to the Philippines since I
was in the US Navy, back in 1969 or '70. I have always said to myself I
will return, but cercumstances weren't with me until recently. I am
actually passing through Cebu to Tagbilaran City, Bohol to be with
someone I've known online for about a year, now. I must say, I am very
excited to be in Cebu and the PI in genarel. I hope to retire there and
I have done a lot of research about it. I'm sure though that I still
have a lot to know. Well, I want to thank whoever is responsable for
offering me the invitation to join this group and hope I will meet some
of you, very soon. Thank you all for being you and having a deep
appreciation for the Philippines, as I do. Rick.. :D
Most people who signed for this Group elected "individual emails"
(that is the default method) which means you get every post delivered
to your personal email account. I know most of you do not want that
because it saturates your personal email. I have taken it upon myself
(based on past experience) to change everyone's email delivery method
for this Group to "no emails". Which means you simply go to the Group
when you want to read posts.
If you do want individual emails simply go and change back to
individual emails and I will not modify again.
For those of you who chose "Daily Digests" or "Special Notices" I did
not alter your accounts.

Fly to Manila on Friday, staying a few days in AC, moving on to Samar
for a few days then Cebu for about 3 days, and back to AC for the
plane home.
One of the highlights will hopefully be to hire a 4 Wheeler to get
partway up Mt Pinutubo and then walk the last bit. Seen some pics
which look awesome, just a tad worried that I'm fit enough for the
trek.
Anyone any experience in that area?
You may stay in the philippines up to 1 year but yuo can get short
flight out and get your passport stamped elsewere and return the same
day if you like then you start as first arrived.

Take the Superferry, it feels like staying in a hotel and travels
over night, as well as most of a day, so you also save on paying for
a hotel for a night. There is a ship every day, some at night some in
the morning:
http://www.superferry.com.ph/
Its an almost 24 hour journey.

Look in the files section of the list under "Tourists Visa Costs"
there is a breakdown there of how much you should be paying every 60
days. Hope this helps.

Has anyone experienced any safety problems around the Colon area? I
gf had her earrings ripped stolen and another friend almost lost his
cell phone to snatchers.
Would veterans of Cebu City say that the crime rate is getting better,
worse, or staying about the same?
The best two Malls in the Cebu City area are SM and Ayala Malls.
There are lots of other malls and shopping centers scattered
throughout the city. As far as night life Badgers Sports Bar in
Banilad is nice, it is new and like a modern US sports bar. For
clubbing Ratsky's in Ayala Mall and Sunflower (by Water Front Hotel
Lohug) are good choices.

To What I was told you can stay for a period of one year. After that
the Government (Philippine) will post a fine. You can probably call
your country's embassy and find out.
Looking for nice neighborhood to rent house in the range of 15,000 -
25,000 pesos per month. 3/4 BR's, 2 CR's, quiet as much as possible.
Also any information on schools in the area.
Hello I am spotted this new group. Can anyone give me any information
on resorts in Mactan. Prefereably something with nice pools and
beaches. Thanks
