I am auditioning for a non-singing extra part in Des Moines Opera
Company production of "Carmen" this week.
I see it as a way of avoiding the $45 ticket for admission.
I do love that opera and don't want to miss it.

The story goes that Oscar Wilde and Thomas Whistler, he of Whistler's
Mother fame had a long running feud which had this exchange at some
soiree. Wilde had made some witticism and gotten wry laughter from a
fawning crowd and Whistler had cynicaly remarked,
"Oh Oscar, how clever! I wish I had said that".
To which Wilde replied,
"You will, dear Thomas, you will".
