Today on TNT I finally saw the Brian Wimmer episode of ER.
It was a plumb part for any actor... top billing among the guest
stars and a role in which most all of the female cast oogled
over him.
His character took an interest in Gloria Ruben's character. Bad
timing just then as she was living in fear having been newly
diagnosed with AIDS. Also, Gloria Ruben's character on ER was
pure sweetness, and I don't think it would have worked so well
with Brian's charming guy appeal -- they are too similar to be a
TV match. Still, they were charming together in this episode.
Now Gloria Rubens is no longer with ER and she has her own
series "1-800-MISSING" on the A&E channel.
An idea comes to mind... Brian should have been cast in
"1-800-MISSING."
In "1-800-MISSING," Gloria Ruben's character is colder, crustier
and less nice. Brian would be perfect as her
sort-of-ex-boyfriend -- caring, but irreverent and charmingly
mocking to her stern FBI law enforcement ways.
Gloria's young psychic partner could hold a secret crush on
Brian. etc. etc.
In the past year, Gloria's boyfriends in the show have faded in
and out and did not add much. 1-800-MISSING needs more to it if
it is going to be a 2-season series.
