Brian's most recent small film did the "straight to video" route, if you
are interested in seeing it, it is not on VHS, but it's available on VCD
(Video CD).
VCD's work on certain DVD players, and computers with DVD-ROM drives
(with the right software) +more devices. The FAQ pages on each of the
sites below offer some tips on how to play them and what they work
with. I've never had a VCD before, so I cannot vouch for playing one.
They are fairly inexpensive, so I may get one just to try it in my DVD
player. It's apparently just MPEG-1 technology, compared to DVD's which
are MPEG-2 technology. Again, check your DVD player's specifications to
see if it will play a VCD. I cannot guarantee it will work in your
