Brenda's characters tend to die a lot in her films, especially getting
shot in the head. But, in "Starship Troopers" her character was crushed
by a door. My question: when the door closed on her stomach/torso, did
it cut in her two, or did it crush her? I mean it seems like she might
not not even died. Maybe the door, when it felt the resistance of her
gut, would have stopped closing, and even have automatically opened.
But if it didn't stop closing, would it have pushed through her, and
therby cuuting her in two, or would it only have crushed her insides?
Brenda will be appearing at least in the next three episodes of Ted
Danson's new show Help Me Help You, starting tomorrow (December 12) at
9:30 PM on ABC. The other two episodes will premiere on December 19
and January 2.

I just saw this in the TV paper. Sounds like it's a new movie and Brenda
has the leading role, for once. I don't have a DVR recorder so can't get
screen shots. Sorry. --Anita

"Family in Hiding", a Lifetime original tv movie starring Brenda, is
airing tonight at 8:00 PM in the USA. If any of you can get some caps
from the movie, he/she'll have my eternal gratitude. Thanks in advance.

Last Tuesday I added 19 new pics from "Remember", the DH Season Two
finale. As I expected, all of Brenda's few scenes were more about the
other housewives than about Mary Alice. At least she looked great in
the first two flashbacks (not so much in the other two, though), but
I'm afraid we'll probably see even less of her next season. Frankly, I
wish Brenda was a regular in any other show where she could play a
real character instead of just delivering MA's annoying voiceover, but
I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. Maybe in a few
years, if ever.
Have a nice weekend.
Luis
Last sunday I added 24 caps from the first "The Work and the Glory"
sequel. They are in The Work and the Glory album, right after the
original movie pics (they are a bit smaller because the sequel was
shot in widescreen). This sequel shows at least a slight improvement
over the original: It's shorter. But don't keep your hopes up: Brenda
doesn't have too much to do other than delivering a heavy-handed
speech early on.
By the way, Brenda will be back in the Desperate Housewives Season Two
finale on Sunday, May 21st. This episode will run from 9PM till 11PM,
but in spite of that, I don't think we'll see as much of her as in the
Season One finale. Fate is not on our side, I guess.
Okay, Luis,
I just love Brenda. I look for her to guest star in a lot of shows.
She must not like to do main characters. Maybe takes her away from
home too much.
I wish she would though. I liked her character in Starship Troopers
2, but the movie
wasn't very good. I heard Island City wasn't good either, but I'd
sure like to see it.
Cheers!

You are very welcome. And you can call me Luis. It's my second name,
but that's how I'm usually called.

Wow!!! Brenda was on screen for 17 SECONDS, no less!!! And we only had
to wait 10 MONTHS and 16 EPISODES to see her again!!!
Okay, sorry for my bitterness, but Brenda's role in DH has become a
sick joke (pretty much like the show itself). And in a few months I'll
have to sith through The Work & The Glory: American Zion to get new
caps of her. God, have mercy on this pathetic fan...
You can see the new caps (the 3 of them) as well as slightly bigger
versions of the old ones in the DH album.
Added 16 new pics of Brenda from Spaceballs. And here is an
interview I've just found in the Net:
What is the best thing about being a Desperate Housewife?
After working in the industry for 20 years, it's nice to be in
something that's a hit. The best bit is getting to say [Desperate
Housewives creator] Marc Cherry's lines because he's a brilliant
writer and he makes my job so easy.
The main plot of series one was your murder mystery. Why are you in
series two as well?
I've been promised that there's a lot more to learn about Mary Alice
in years two and three primarily because of her son - there's a lot
going on with him and there will be more flashbacks concerning my
character. I think she must have a graveyard full of bones in her
cupboard.
Is the story about the producers closing their eyes while you
auditioned, to concentrate on your voice, true?
Yes - I hadn't ever done an audition in front of a group of people
with their eyes shut but it was important for Marc Cherry to hear my
voice as my primary role was as a narrator. Luckily I had been doing
Shakespeare in rep at the time so my voice was in very good shape.
After I finished reading, Marc opened his eyes and had a huge
Cheshire cat smile on his face, so I assumed something was working.
At the Screen Actors Guilds Awards they only had five trophies for
the six actresses. You lent yours to another housewife for the
pictures - did you get it back?
I did. We all got our own trophies in the end and I keep mine in my
bedroom. We don't do the job to get trophies but it's nice to have
something to remind you of the recognition the show has received -
and it's nice to have a bronzed actor in my bedroom.
Why do you think the show was an instant success?
Many reasons: we had a genius script to begin with but luckily ABC
knew that and marketed it really cleverly with bus-stop posters and
laundry bags with 'Everyone has a little dirty laundry,' written on
them. They got a buzz started about the show before it aired. It was
the right time and the right script and audiences wanted something
other than reality TV - and we stepped into that spot. The main
attraction, hopefully, is seeing complex women trying to do the best
they can while revealing their flaws. The show is about letting
everyone on the planet know we're all just trying to do what we can
and you're not alone if you feel that your life is out of control.
I read that you teach yoga.
I don't teach it now as I'm working on two films but I want to get
back to it. I practise yoga even when my schedule doesn't allow me
to teach. I've been practising for 17 years, since before it became
hip. I started to teach it a few years ago when I was pregnant and
not getting cast - other than as a pregnant woman on ER - but
production companies don't want to insure you when you're pregnant.
I had all this spare time and used it to delve deeper into yoga and
fell into teaching. It was a natural fit.
You were Miss Arizona in 1980.
Wow! You've really done your research! Yes I was Miss Arizona 1980 -
but, rather embarrassingly, Marc Cherry knows more about the Miss
America pageant than I do. He's a huge fan. There has been talk
about the possibility of us judging the next pageant. That would be
fun.
Is the experience of competing in a beauty contestant one you would
like to repeat?
No. I did it for the scholarship money - that was the prize. I
needed an education and that seemed the easiest way to pay for it. I
didn't realise it would prepare me for things like this, though.
They teach you how to walk in gowns and how to interview so it came
in handy.
When the show first started, Germaine Greer denounced it as being
bereft of feminism. What do you think of that?
I'd consider myself to be a feminist in many respects and I'm not
offended by the content or presentation of the characters in this
show. We're finally blowing a hole wide open in female stereotypes
and showing the multi-dimensional quality that makes them
interesting. It's refreshing to have this amount of honesty about
what we do as women shown on TV. We're showing that those roles
don't really work - they're just façades we step into. From Bree to
Gabrielle and Lynette, all of the archetypal female roles the
characters try to adopt present inherent challenges - and I think
that is brilliantly feminist.
Added 16 new pics from Brenda's appearance in the 1993 Picket Fences
episode "Unlawful Entries", where she plays a woman accused of raping
a guy (no, I'm not making this up).
Just added 16 new pics from Brenda's appearance in the 1991 Blossom
episode "Sex, Lies and Teenagers". I've also replaced the old pictures
in the Malice and Dawson's Creek albums.
As promised, I've added six new recent HQ photos of the lovely and
talented Brenda to the files section. If you like them (or not) please
write in so I know I'm not the only one here.
Four photos. Hope it's OK. I noticed the 20 MB limit.

Hope that you liked the Season Finale, because I don't think we'll see
so much of Brenda in another DH episode ever again. Let's not kid
ourselves: Mary Alice is dead, her backstory has been told and her
secret has been revealed. Next season there will be a new housewife
(Alfre Woodard) with her own secret, and that means Mary Alice will be
pushed further into the background. Even if Mary Alice is kept alive
through Zach as Brenda said, that means we may see her in a flashback
or two, period. So except for that annoying narration (I'm sorry but I
find it annoying), Brenda will never have much to do in this show. And
to be honest, I don't care that much anymore, because I'm afraid this
show is quickly losing its appeal to me, particularly since I've
found "Lost" (no pun intended).
Have a nice summer.
Luis
I thought Brenda was really great in the season finale episiode of
Desperate Housewives.
Her flashbacks scenes of Mary Alice & what led up to what she did were
really great!!!
I hope we will see more of her in scenes next season, too.

Just added 24 new caps from The Work and the Glory, Part 1. As I
feared, some critics were rigth: This movie is part a Mormon
infomercial, part an overlong Little House on the Prairie episode.
The (bi-dimensional) characters and the (boring and trite) plot are
secondary to the message. And said message is one of tolerance, but
tolerance for Mormons only, because the rest of us are a bunch of
biggots who don't believe in Joseph Smith (unless you are married or
engaged to someone who does believe in the Prophet, of course). I
guess I may be biassed against this movie because I grew up as a
Catholic, but I don't even believe in Jesus Christ's divinity.
However, as a guy who loves movies, I can never enjoy one where the
more a character sinks into evil, the longer his beard grows. And
that's what passes for character development here. Brenda is as good
as ever, but she doesn't have too much to do (sounds familiar?). But
the worst part is that the producers are planning to make 4 to 5
sequels (parts 2 and 3 are filming right now, as you can check in
earlier messages), so I'm afraid Brenda is going to be stuck for a
while in this crap, just as she is stuck in her hardly seen role of
Mary Alice Young.
By the way, don't miss the DH season finale this sunday. Looks like
Brenda may actually show up in a several scenes (at last).
Hey everybody...love the show but do you think we need to start a
letter writing campaign to see if we can't somehow get Brenda on the
show as a permenant cast memeber. While she has a pleasant voice over
I want to see more of Brenda. She's a great actress and not being used
to her potential.

During the last couple of weeks I've revamped some of the albums (Red
Dragon, Sledge Hammer and Sports Night), replacing the old pictures
with better ones. Hope that you like them.
