In the US, Braceface debuted on Fox Family Channel on June 2, 2001. Surviving Fox Family's takeover by Disney and subsequent "rebirth" as the ABC Family Channel, Braceface remained on the cable service until May 31, 2003, and was thereafter seen on the Disney Channel, with new episodes added to the rerun manifest.

Braceface was shown in Canada, the US, England, France, Brazil, Denmark, Greece, Holland, Latin America, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and Australia.

In Brazil it's called 'Sorriso Metálico'. In France it's called 'Sourire d'Enfer'. In Greece it's called 'To Siderenio Prosopo'. In Latin America it's called 'Dientes de Lata'. In the Netherlands it's called 'Beugelbekkie'. In Spain it's called 'Sonrisa de acero'.

In March 2002, 'Braceface' received a Genesis Award for the episodes 'Meat of the Matter' and 'Dissection Connection'. Also Braceface received the Environmental Media Association Award and was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award. In March 2003, Braceface received a Genesis Award for the episode 'Vanity Fur'. In March 2004, Braceface received a Genesis Award for the episode 'Ms. Spitz Goes to Warsh and Stone'.
