I figured I would post my experience at Texas Frightmare Weekend this past
weekend.
I got there right when it opened on Friday the 1st. I head over to the
registration table to pick up my VIP pass and gift bag. With the VIP pass you
got one free Alice Cooper autograph, but if you wanted more you had to buy one
from the registration desk. So I purchased one more and hung around until five.
Which is when it opened up for VIP ticket holders. There was only two celebs
that was there early and that was William Forsythe and Jason Mewes. Mewes was
trying to set up so I didn't want to bother him. So my friends and I walked over
to Forsythe's table and talked to him for a minute. My friends got a sig from
him. He was so laid back. He was walking around with shorts on and no shoes. So
five o'clock came around and we went into the vendor room which some of the
celebs were set up too. I had a 5:30 appointment for the Alice Cooper line so I
wanted to get as many as I could get knocked out before general admission came
in. So I got in the Marilyn Burns line and got hers on a pic I made and got a
picture with her. Tobe Hooper wasn't there yet so I got in Teri McMinn's line. I
had her sign the same picture and I also took a pic with her. We chatted for a
few minutes then and then I went and got in Tobe Hooper's line. He was running a
little behind. But it was quite 5:30 yet so I was good. He finally made it. I
was third in line and he signed the same photo. He really thought it was cool.
The day before I got to see the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the original
35mm format with McMinn, Burns, & Hooper in attendance with a q&a following.
After that it was off to the Alice Cooper line. I was in the first group.
It was on the second floor of the hotel and I swear they didn't have the air on.
We were all standing around sweating our @$$es off. Once we got in the room with
Alice they turned the air on. There was a person who would write what you want
the inscription to read on a post it note. On an 8x10 I had of him and Jason
from Friday the 13th he wrote "Man behind the Mask". And on a 16x20 I had of his
appearance on the Muppet Show (which he just loved the picture) he wrote Riley
Welcome to my Muppet-Mare, Alice Cooper. I thought that was awesome. I shook his
hand and took a picture with him and left. He is one very cool dude.
I came back and went straight to Jason Mewes table. He was charging 20
each. So I bought two and he gave a third for free. He was really cool. I took a
picture with him and then it was back to the vendor room for more sigs. I went
to Fairuza Balk's line. She had a good selection of pics to chose from but the
one I wanted from the Waterboy of just her was a little pixelated. So I got the
one of her and Adam Sandler. She was really nice. She signed my pic, shook my
hand and thanked me for being there. She took a picture with me and told me have
a good weekend. Then I went around to C.J. Graham's table. C.J. hasn't done a
lot of roles. He was in Highway to Hell and Friday the 13th part 6. I needed him
on my pick of him and Alice Cooper. He asked me my name where I was from thanked
me for coming out. Hell I think he was more excited to meet me.lol. I took a
picture with him and went on. I then went to Caroline Williams table. Caroline
played Stretch in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. She was extremely nice. She loved
my ringtone on my phone. My main one was her from TCM2 and my second was of Lou
Perryman. The second almost made her cry. We stood there and talked about Lou
for ten minutes at least. (for those who don't know, Lou passed away recently)
The I went back to William Forsythe's table to pick up a pic from Raising
Arizona. Damn he was sold out of them. He said his publisist only printed 20 of
them and they went quick. That's what I get for procrastinating. So picked one
of his that has a few different shots on it. He was really cool. He apologized
for not having anymore. He signed the pic and took a picture with me. That was
all I went for except the "Laid To Rest" people. Which they weren't going to be
there until Saturday. So I told my friends I'm calling it a night and I'll be
back tomorrow.
So Saturday around noon I head back to the convention. I get there around
one. I had printed off the pic I had taken of my and Jason Mewes and I was going
to have him sign it. He turned around for a sec and one of the staff brings him
a red bull and then takes off. I happened to look down and a drop of water from
the can fell on my pic. I go "OH SH!T" and tried to dab it off. Well it just
screws up the pic in that spot. He signs it with a funny inscription and gives
me a couple for free. Which was funny because on the pic I chose of his, he
signed Riley Red Bull is Evil, Jason Mewes. So even though my pic got messed up
a little. He made it right.
After that I notice some of the "Laid To Rest" people were there so I got a
couple sigs from them and went to their q&a. Which was pretty awesome. After the
q&a they all came out and signed for free. They signed my laid to Rest dvd and a
poster for my son. The "Laid To Rest" people were Robert Hall
writer/director/producer, Bobbi Sue Luther actress/producer, Johnathon Schaech
actor, Jana Kramer actress, & Anthony Fitzgerald actor. They were all really
cool. They signed all that you wanted and took pictures. The and friend of mine
and I went back over to Fairuza Balk and got another pic with her.
Then at eight o'clock it was time for the VIP party. All the celebs came
for it except a couple. It was a little boring at first. But once the celebs
started getting there it picked up. They would come over and talk and hang out
and drink. I had lengthy conversations with Derek Mears and Tyler Mane. Those
are two very cool and very f'ing huge dudes. I also had long conversations with
Hunter Carson, Corbin Bernsen, Caroline Williams, William Forsythe, Fairuza
Balk, Robert Hall, Bobbi Sue Luther, Anthony Fitzgerald, and Teri McMinn. It was
11:00pm and the party started dying down. So I told my friends I was calling it
a night. They were staying at the hotel but I had to go home. So I got in my car
and left. Halfway home it started raining so bad I could hardly see. But I made
it home in one piece. Another great convention.
