Lodestone Theatre Ensemble and Orphans Theater Company Presents A Fun-
Filled Fundraising Event To Be Hosted By The Stars of MTV
Films' "Better Luck Tomorrow"
Due to the tremendous popularity of the past two Oscar Night events,
Lodestone Theatre Ensemble is once again hosting its annual Oscar
Night Benefit to raise funds for the production of Angela
Kang's "When Tigers Smoked Long Pipes" (which will have its world
premiere this summer at the Victory Theatre in Burbank). Both the
play and the Oscar fundraiser will be a co-production with the
critically acclaimed Orphans Theater Company. The benefit will take
place at the Rosen Brewery in Koreatown, 400 S. Western Ave., Los
Angeles, CA 90020 on Sunday, March 23, 2003. Festivities begin at
4:30 PM and conclude at Midnight. The Academy Awards ceremony will
start at 5:30 PM and an all-you-can-eat buffet will run from 6-8 PM.
This year's event will be hosted by the hot, young stars of MTV
Film's upcoming release "Better Luck Tomorrow" which will open in
theatres nationwide in April. "Both Lodestone and 'Better Luck
Tomorrow' are allowing a new generation of Asian Americans to tell
their own stories in their own unique voice," says Roger Fan, one of
the stars of "Better Luck Tomorrow" and a member of Lodestone, who
will co-host the Oscar benefit. "This event is a great opportunity
to both celebrate and support these achievements while having a fun
time in the company of some great people."
Entertainment includes, but is by no means limited to: Full-Contact
Karaoke, popular Raffle Prizes, guest appearances by some of your
favorite Asian American Celebrities, a screening of special footage
from "Better Luck Tomorrow" including an all-new theatrical trailer
and, of course, watching the Oscars on the special "JUMBO SCREEN",
and if that's not enough -- an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT Buffet Dinner. There
will also be free samples of the five different ales freshly brewed
on the premises and plenty of other surprises.
