Hello All,
I'm Indiah, a 21 year old from North Carolina, USA! May 11th was my
first time viewing the movie 'Get Real' because it is the first time I
have even heard of this movie in the US...
I must say this movie was extrmemly endearing and against the grain
about normality and society. I thought it was brilliant, so much so that
last night, well morning actually, at 4:00am (EST) I ordered it from
Amazon.com!
I am studying to be a Film Critic/Film Editor and there are too few
movies nowadays that make you tap into your deepest darkest emotions. I
found myself literally distraught with every human emotion possible. To
me any movie that can do that is a very high-quality well-written
masterpiece and I think the world needs to know about it! I am a
straight female but this movie taught me that growing up in today's
society with all its moral judgements and stereotyping is enought to
push someone to the brink. I am so pleased that finally someone has
said, "Damn it, hold on a sec.... why are we trying so hard to tell
people that they MUST love one way!"
My opinion of it is that if you don't like it, don't look! Mind your own
damn business in the first place! Anyhow, I thought Ben did an amazing
job as did Brad Gorton. I think you are only a true and talented actor
when you can get inside yourself and push the edge of the envelope. When
you can then step outside and toss aside what people view as decent and
normal. Both of these men have done so and in my opinion they deserve
the recognition from everyone for their performances. I wish this movie
had gotten more publicity backing to push it further into the public
eye. It was a very thought-provoking and heart-warming film - and I hope
that this will help the gay/lesbian community be more open with their
sexuality!
Ok well I've said my peace... hello again and I look forward to talking
with you all some more. Anyone else want to introduce themselves?
Hugs,
Indiah
