I couldn't agree more with Electric Mistress,
that is, I'd think it be pretty pointless remaking the
same film, especially as a Hollywood feature.
Held
on a more fun level though, it would be intrigueing
to shoot a "Barbarella" the way "we" secretly would
have wanted it to unfold... Let's just say the real
hero of the film is actually The Great Tyrant/Anita
Pallenberg and I hate seeing her getting so cheated all the
time and so utterly vanquished in the end. It's an
Anathema!
Speaking of actors, I think it would be advisable to
consider some unknown talents, people from the stage
perhaps, rather than the usual Hollywood celebrities. Why
not let a real Dominatrix for example, (who can act)
try out for The Black Queen?
The entire project,
however, rests upon the fundamental condition of
side-stepping or wrestling the production out of the hands of
the U.S film industry. They are simply not up to it,
as very few people in that country can be expected
to have any sense of what this film is all about
anyway (no offense!). Else, we'll probably only end up
with not a Jane Fonda, but a kind of G.I Jane,
defending her inverted puritanism by pop-feministically
wielding big greasy guns.
