Does anyone out there reading this who worked on the film know
if there was much extra footage, or an on the set documentary
made on Barbarella? This would be great for the upcoming 40th
anniversary in 2008, or any sooner rerelease of the DVD. Last
year on ebay a guy was selling off a photographers negatives of
never before seen on the set photos. I missed getting that sadly.
Anyway, while the lead actors are all still with us, they should be
interviewed for their recollections. DVD's are really little time
capsules, so surely there must be stuff around to add to such a
cult classic film. I want to see how it all came about, and the
people who worked on the music, costumes and the great sets.
I recently got the rare 3 DVD set of 1963's CLEOPATRA. It had a
new 2 hour documentary on the making of the film, 3 theatrical
trailers, foreign trailers, 60's Movietone news footage of opening
nights around the world, a 1963 featurette shot on location, and
footage of how the film affected the fashion world, TV ads for
make-up, catwalk fashion shows etc. I mean this is brilliant stuff,
so please, lets find stuff on Barbarella before its lost forever.
