Barbarella to me looks very sexy when she's naked in Pygar's
nest, with her head to one side, bare back showing, her thick
hair trickling down (a la Bardot), holding a large feather. You can
figure out that symbolism for yourself! Also being thrown around
in the tight white outfit and matching long white boots, you
realize she has a great figure. She's very sex-kittenish in the
black and white fur cat outfit with a tail. Lets face it, she looks
great throughout the film. I think the see through boob outfit is the
best though, its timeless. If Mugler did the costumes for the new
film I'd be happy. And I 'loved' 'Spirits of the Dead' , (Janes
sequence also by then hubby director Vadim) it requires a
certain taste and yes Jane's sculptured leather number is
memorable! I read an interview with John Phillip Law where he
said 'his' favorite hot scene in Barbarella is with the Black Queen
on top of him. She has him down off the cross, has put
Barbarella in with the birds, and has decided she's gonna finally
have the angel. When he refuses to make love to her she says
"Then you're a dead duck!" and starts plucking his feathers. John
also said he didn't realize when Barbarella first came out, the
popularity his character had until he was at a film festival in
Brazil. Someone explained as it was a Catholic country, the only
semi clad men the women had seen had been painted angels
in churches. Now on the screen they had a real, live angel to
become their fantasy. ---Robert. In
