Subject: [autopsygroup] Last goodbye
Dear friends of Patrick Roberts/Dave Adrian,
It was a wet, cold, sad autumn day. When we arrived at the cemetery,
the sun peeped through the clouds and kept shinning during the small
ceremony that was held in memory of Patrick Roberts/Dave Adrian.
Family and friends gathered in a circle around the coffin of Dave.
Words were said, prayers were spoken.
Then I passed around the lyrics of White Wings by Bahama Kin and
started the music. Everybody was listening and was thinking of their
memories of Dave. After the song fades, it remained silent.
Then Johnny Vanbelle, a young man that got guitar lessons from
Patrick/Dave, and had become a real good friend, played a song he
composed for Patrick. You could feel the pain right trough his warm
voice. He sang truly from the heart. Sometimes his fingers were
trembling, not from the cold, but from the deep emotions. I'm sure
Patrick heard him from after the clouds, or wherever he
is now, and he
very much appreciated it. It's a wonderful song.
Then it was time for the last salute and Patrick's coffin was rolled
out of the circle of family and friends to his last resting-place.
Rest in peace dear friend. You were a wonderful teacher not only in
music but in live.
You may have died, but you are not dead, you just went to another
place. One day, we will meet again on the other side.
