For the past 3 nights after everyone has gone to sleep, I have taken
the liberty of rediscovering all the photos of Audrey listed not only
all over the internet, on this site and in my own digital collection;
and the sub- total reaction , upon reflection is just "Wow!" The
flawless beauty and charm in those photographs is so well-known among
her fans, that there is no need to elaborate much here; yet, I think
of her in these 14 years after her passing, and I think: How BADLY we
need her now! Her grace, her elfin smile, her love and her immense
compassion.
There is a radiant glow, a sparkle that truly defines Billy
Wilder's commentary:"God Kissed her on the cheek and THERE SHE
WAS!"..Indeed "living prrof that God could creat perfection"..Surely
no mere mortal being can be defined thusly; yet her beauty never
faded, even after she grew older; for the CHILDREN, the World saw a
remarkable spiritual grace radiate from that flawless personage
OUTWARD, and it touched sick, ill and needy children all over the
world for UNICEF, and this not only from a WOrld-famous actress, but
from a girl who was truly ONE OF THEM, having known their pain as a
youngster during the war...
I think about Audrey, and she played out her life with such loving
grace.....How fortunate and lucky we were to have had her walk among
us, for even a little while..
I write all this for a personal reason too, many actually.. I have
fought diabetes and 2 bouts of cancer, and I remember Audrey and the
blessed joy she lived out her later time among her flowers and
surrounded by her sons, Robby and special friends. From her example I
am taught that even in the darkest hours, one stays focused on what
is TRUE amd GOOD in one's life..Should I ever need it, I will
remember Audrey's example of not only HOW to LIVE, but of HOW TO DIE,
as well...
I wish I were an accomplished poet and could find EXACTLY the
right words, but in Audrey's case, they seem so lacking; perhaps the
simplest ones are more than adequate:
She was a beautiful lady (both inside and out) ,loving mother,
gifted actress, Humanitarian,and TRUE FRIEND...
Yes Sir, we are LUCKY indeed!
