Oh, bite me! I had taped it, but now won't bother to watch. That's what I hate
about Today, they have done this to me so many times about so many different
actors!<br>;(
I read that too about the Letterman show. But now I hear because of his hospital
stay ( Letterman's ) that they will be showing reruns for awhile. Debbie
Today Show is notorious for switching at the last minute. He's supposed to be
on Letterman on the 19th too, at least according to somebody at the Delphi
Hopkins Forum.
I heard Anthony Hopkins was going to be on The Today Show this Wednesday the
19th.I hope they are right because in my t.v. guide his name isn't listed.
Well, I fortunately haven't had any Cox dreams,
but I did have a Hopkins/Foster/Richard Lynch dream
last night! Lynch was Lecter's Russian cousin Anton,
and Hannibal had just helped bust him out of Russian
prison, and he returned the favor by hitting on Clarice.
Think I've been mixing my fan clubs too much
lately!<br>Also, Roger Ebert has a column in our Sunday paper, and
today somebody asked him what about a black
Clarice--and he thought that wouldn't be a bad idea and said
he had heard a rumor that Clarice had been black in
one of the earlier drafts of SOTL.
Well, Anne, Hannah, I'm not normally so hard
hearted, but this was a dream, and, as I said, I was in
director mode. <br><br>I recall Mr. Cox making those very
points (about his screen time, and doing hs best with
the material, etc.) in the dream, but, you see, he
was suffering terminal Hopkins envy, and made the
fatal mistake of pleading with me. So, of course, I had
no choice.<br><br>Best thing for him, really. His
characterization was going no where.<br><br>Come to think of it,
more than one actor has complimented me, by saying
that my directing style reminded them of the good
Doctor, at his most charming... and manipulative!
<br><br>At least, *I* took it as a
compliment!<br><br>bloodandivory<br><br>PS: I'd give you some advice, Hannah, on
how to have
dreams like this, but here my usual technique would not
work in htis instance, as I'm certain that I wasn't
concentrating on Dr. *Lecktor* before going to sleep!
You know, I really didn't like Cox's Lecter --
and I hate the spelling, too, Chris -- but he didn't
really have enough screen time in Manhunter to make it
THAT bad of an offense, Blood!<br><br>Hannah <is
upset that SHE never has spiffy dreams like this!>
LOL! Poor guy,I don't think he was THAT bad a
Lecter, even if Mann did spell his name wrong. The Lecter
in "Red Dragon" was mostly creepy and evil, not the
charming gentleman we got to know later, and Cox did a
great job with the material he had to work with. Just
can't see him as Lecter any more--saw him in that Kevin
Costner baseball movie this fall, and the man is
certainly no longer "sleek", if not the 400 pounds that
somebody at That Other Board alleges.<br>:)
Lechter Kitchen Knives. I like the sound of that, and yes perhaps that's why.
(still thinks it was a bad idea)<br><br>LOL@dream! Absolutely hilarious dream
you had, blood!!
Wow! You can say that again, Chris!<br><br>I
don't know why they changed the spelling, other than to
make him more alien, more "other". <br><br>God knows,
Mr Cox needed all the help he could get with
that.<br><br>It also could have been that the producers found out
that a small chain of kitchen impliment vendors had
just started up with a VERY similar name (Lechter's)
and were trying to distance themselves! <finds
this deliciously funny!><br><br>Actually, I had a
dream, a while back, about Brian Cox...<br><br>He was
sitting in the cell from the film, wearing his costume
from the film. But it was the ACTOR, not the
character. He was in jail, under a heavy sentence. And he
was pleading with me (as if I were his judge) to let
him out. <br><br>It seemed that he'd been imprisioned
for playing a bad Lecter, and only I could absolve
him! He kept saying "I know I can't hold a candle to
Sir Hopkin's performance. But he hadn't even DONE his
when I did the role! How could I???"<br><br>I still
didn't forgive him, though. Must be the director in me!
<grin><br><br>bloodandivory
Brian Cox played "Lektor" <br>yeeech.. Where'd
that spelling come from anyway?? Anyone know the
answer? This is to all you Lecterphiles.<br><br>At any
rate, boy are we all glad that Cox didn't resume his
role when casting for SotL came around!
Hannibal the movie was mentioned tonight briefly.
A couple of great pictures of Anthony Hopkins was
shown. It was mentioned that Jodie won't be doing the
sequel and about replacements for her etc.Debbie
Hello, there! Thanks for the invite,
anthro!<br><br>In case you couldn't guess...my fav. AH film is,
also, Silence of the Lambs. His Lecter is just spot
on...MUCH better than the actor in "Manhunter" (I didn't
think much of the rest of the movie,
either).<br><br>Ta,<br>Agent Starling
LOL, Hannah! I was going to say that very thing about Magic! It was my first
AH film as well! <grin><br><br>bloodandivory <doesn't see harm in a
little occaisional cheesiness>
Thanks for the invitation, Chris.<br><br>I have
to agree with Blood, I think. Remains of the Day was
my favorite Hopkins film. I must admit that my
favorite character was Hannibal Lecter -- but Remains was
just so perfect! I must also sheepishly admit that I
have quite a fondness for my first AH movie -- I'm a
sentimental gal -- which happens to be Magic.<br><br>Hannah
<knows this last is cheesy, but likes it anyway>
Hi.<br><br>I am a HUGE fan of Silence of the
Lambs (it being my favorite, and all). <br><br>I
respect Jodie very much...<br>But, as much as I love
Jodie Foster (loved her since Taxi Driver, and seen
most of her films), I am a tad miffed at her for
passing up "Hannibal" and costing the project a couple of
million for script re-writes that never had to occur.
<br>Anybody who wanted the pair of Hopkins and Foster back
together for the sequel can completely
understand.<br><br>Monica M. Schmidt<br>(Sweeper887)
Yes, thanks, Chris! And great luck with the club!<br><br>Other (naturally) than
SotL, my fave Hopkins role is Stephens in "Remains of the Day" - I thought he
was brilliant.<br><br>bloodandivory
Thanks for the invitation! Sir Tony is one of my
very favorite actors. Of course "Silence of the Lambs"
is my favorite, as Hannibal Lecter is without a
doubt the coolest villain ever! But I loved "Bram
Stoker's Dracula" and "Mask of Zorro" too, with Tony
playing good guys. Go figure!
Hi! I'm a great fan of Anthony Hopkins because
he's one of the greatest actor in the world. He's one
of the only actor that makes us believe that he's
the character he's playing....especially for his
performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. So if you're all fans of
Hannibal Lecter, you must also like Clarice Starling. I'm
the founder of a club about Jodie Foster named Jodie
Foster Superstar. If you like her, you can go to my club
and become a member at:<br>

Don't you love Copy, Cut, & paste? :-)<br><br>My
thought was...<br>Has anybody ever noticed that in the
great majority of his feature film roles since 1980,
Anthony must either: A) Die (or) B) NOT get the girl
(when there is a girl element). It is a trend that I
hope is broken with "Hannibal." <br><br><BASHFUL
SMILE><br><br>Monica M. Schmidt<br>(Sweeper887)
thanks for the very welcome invitation. I really
don't have a favorite movie. I'm looking forward to
Titus and Mission Impossible 2. Keeping my fingers
crossed for Hannibal. Debbie
Thanks for the Invite, Anthro_19. :-)<br><br>As
far a favorite Tony Hopkins movie, I'd have to say
hands-down, The Silence of the Lambs. It is my favorite movie
of all time... Tony's 'Lecter' seems more human than
the Brian Cox's 'Lecktor' - more of a normal person,
more sophisiticated, more intellectual, more
LECTER.<br><br>But, there are very few, if any, films that I do not
like him in. <br><br>The Lion in Winter is one of my
favorites, because I get to see the adorably sexy one in his
debut film role. :-) majority of his feature film roles
since 1980, Anthony must either: A) Die (or) B) NOT get

Lion in Winter is among my Hopkins favorites, as well. Truly an amazing debut!
I can't say I have a true favorite, as his acting is always superb in any role.
<br><br>Do you have one?
It's an absolute joy to have you here! As you can
tell by the date on the main page, this is a very new
club and it is my hope that all the many, many Tony
lovers out there will join up! Feel free to post
opinions or whatnot all you want, this is an open forum.
I'll work on the links section and have all the good
AH sites on the internet there before long. Enjoy
yourselves and if you know any Tony fans, by all means
invite them in! <br><br>Chris
It's a pleasure to be invited to join this club,
devoted to Sir Anthony Hopkins, who I have admired for
many years, dating back to his inaugural film debut,
in The Lion in Winter ( 1968 ).He is truly a great
actor, with incredible presence, an impressive voice,
good range in roles and an actor who will be
remembered many years from now.
